How good is SPJIMR's PGDM? I’m looking at the current placement records of over 26L average. Is it performing better than top B-schools like XLRI/FMS/IIM?

DS
Dhananjay Sharma Posted On : March 10th, 2023
PGPM in Information Management, S. P. Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR) (Graduated 2017)

SPJIMR has been among the top 5 or 10 B Schools over the past few years consistently. Its brand value can be compared to XLRI, FMS, and even IIMs except for IIM ABC. This is because even now there are some roles offered to IIM ABC students that are not offered at SPJIMR. But this is not a major issue as these roles seek only extraordinary profiles and In Fact, many other roles offered at IIM ABC are lower than average.

In SPJIMR even the lowest package is decent and the range of salary is not very broad. This year, SPJIMR's average package stood at INR 33.02 LPA.

Other key points to note in comparison to old IIMs is that our Highest CTC is lower than that of IIMs but our Lowest CTC is higher than that of IIMs. So I will suggest anyone with an exceptionally good profile to choose IIM whereas someone with a decent average profile should go for SPJIMR only. It is important to note that getting roles at SPJIMR is a bit easier than IIMs mainly because of the small batch size and less competition.

The salary offered during campus placements can vary depending on various factors such as the company, job role, industry, candidate's academic performance, and work experience.

Typically, companies offer entry-level positions to fresh graduates during campus placements, and the salary can range from around INR 3-5 lakhs per annum. However, this can vary widely based on the factors mentioned above.

What are the complete statistics of placements for B. Tech CSE at Amity University, Noida?

VS
Vijaya Subramaniam Posted On : February 2nd, 2021
BBA from Amity University (2019)

Amity University offers decent placement offers to the students. Let’s look at some statistics available for placements at Amity University, grouped under pros and cons.

Pros-

  • A good no. of companies visit Amity University during the placement drive, the figure being close to 500.
  • “If you want placement, you will get placement for sure”, as stated by the Placement director. The claim can be relied upon in the view of a great number of placement opportunities offered at the university.
  • The placement season at Amity also witnesses big companies such as Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Aspiring minds, etc. offering lucrative packages.

Cons-

  • The average package lies around 3.5–4.5 LPA. Though plenty of people are offered 6 LPA+, there are still many, who get placed with just 1.8-2.5 LPA.
  • Amity University has two departments for placements- ATPC and CRC. Both the departments try to outshine each other by bringing in more and more recruiters. There are often such instances when two companies visit the campus on the same day. This ultimately limits the number of opportunities for students.
  • You won’t be informed about the visit of big companies offering cushy packages if you don’t have a good CGPA(8+).
  • If you are already placed, you can’t sit in placements for further visiting companies. The only exception to this is the 2n-1 rule. It enables you to appear for the company offering 7+ LPA if you are already placed with a package of 4 LPA.
  • Amity’s reputation has degraded over years and this point will work against you if you try off-campus placements.
  • Amity students are rumored to be not serious about their studies. You can gradually become part of the herd under the influence of the environment all around you.

You should be careful about the last point of the cons, which is the most important factor influencing your professional competence.

NITIE Mumbai is one of the topmost B- Schools in India with a stellar placement record. NITIE offers 5 major courses, i.e. PGDIM, PGDMM, PGDPM, and PGDISEM.

Here are the recent placement highlights for NITIE.

Final Placements 2020:

  • Highest CTC - INR 58.24 lakhs per annum
  • Average CTC - 21.5 lakhs per annum (Domestic)
  • Median CTC - 20 lakhs per annum
  • Top 10% of the batch average CTC - 39.81 lakhs per annum
  • Top 20% of the batch average CTC - 34 lakhs per annum

Around 34% of the Class of 2020 received pre-placement offers and pre-placement interviews through their summer internships at top corporate companies.

Various recruiters such as Amazon, Deloitte, Flipkart, HUL, ITC, P&G, Philips, PwC US Advisory, etc. visited the campus for the placement drive. NITIE is a preferred destination for recruiters.

A total of 143 recruiters attended the placement drive and recruited 268 students.

I would say that being in NITIE there is a pretty good chance that you'll earn more than 20 LPA if you are in the top half of the batch.

How are the placements at Andhra University for B.Tech students?

TG
Tanvi Garg Posted On : October 25th, 2021
studied B.Tech Computer Science, Andhra University College of Engineering

Students often feel that the placements are often exaggerated in AU. If you are from CSE, ECE, or IST, you will have more chances at reputed firms such as Infosys, Wipro, TCS, FTD, IBM, Accenture, etc with packages ranging from INR 3-10 LPA. More than 75% of students get placed in campus hiring at the end of their graduation.

But if you are from any core branch-like chemical, mechanical, marine, etc, then you will be called for interview by some software companies offering packages less than INR 4 LPA. There are only a few chances for core placements and on average, you will be offered placement in between INR 3–6LPA.

The core companies visiting for recruitment from chemical engineering are AUROBINDO, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, GVK BIO, Deccan Companies, etc and all together they will recruit less than 20 students.

How are the placements for architecture at VNIT Nagpur?

BS
Bidita Sinha Posted On : November 20th, 2023
studied at Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur

The reason why Architecture students aren’t placed in non core jobs is because they don’t usually sit for them. Apart from that, no Architecture firms visit the campus for placements. Some Architecture students try for off campus jobs in their domain, while others start their own firm and do business.

Thus, mostly Architecture students either approach companies on their own, or become entrepreneurs.

How is the chemical branch of BIT Mesra in terms of placements and the average package?

DG
Deepmoy Ganguly Posted On : September 5th, 2023
studied at Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra

Nowadays, the core recruiters give more preference to students from the mechanical field. The placement at BIT Mesra is comparatively poor, and many students end up jobless.

So it is better to select the branch wisely, and if you are really passionate about Chemical Engineering, then you can either go for higher studies or attend off-campus interviews.
