How have the placement stats been for the metallurgical branch in MNIT Jaipur?

Namrata Das Posted On : October 10th, 2023

Instead of presenting stats, I will talk about the ground reality placements for this branch.

There are limited job opportunities in the core sector for Metallurgy students. Due to a lack of options during placement season, 9-pointers too end up in non-core sectors. Even GATE offers limited job opportunities. More than often, even 2-digit rank holders fail to get a call from PSUs.

But this branch is good for a career in research. You’ll have access to world-class facilities at labs like Material Research Center (MRC). Other than that, the Top 5 students from Metallurgy receive two-year research scholarships from the Ministry of Steel.

Maintaining a high CGPA is quite easy for B.Tech Metallurgy students of MNIT. These grades are important while applying for an MS at reputed universities.

Metallurgy from MNIT Jaipur is a good choice for future researchers. In terms of campus placements though, it's not a good choice.

How do I prepare for Data Analytics Placements at IITs (specifically, IIT Kharagpur)?

SG
Senjuti Gupta Posted On : March 27th, 2023
studied at IIT Kgp

One of my friends is working in the Analytics Industry for the pasts 4 years and has given enough placement interviews in the same sectors to have a great experience. I asked him about the preparation for the Data Analytics interview. He told me that their placements are quite similar to other companies and comprise: 1 aptitude test and 3 interviews; out of these 2 are technical and one HR

Aptitude test: This written test is very similar to a CAT exam and other exams of easy to medium level of difficulty. Anyone who is preparing for CAT or GMAT would easily clear this test with an additional focus on any aptitude book.

Technical Interview: These interviews come under 3 headings

  • Resumes projects
  • Guesstimates
  • Case Interview

Resume projects: Preparing for this interview is easy and requires a good resume that can be built in multiple ways. You can take up data projects with R and Python which will make your resume appear better. You will have a considerable advantage over those who lack such projects.

For guesstimates and case interviews: These interviews require preparation that is similar to other interviews.

Based on the approach companies take while selecting candidates, you can prepare accordingly and ace all the interviews.

Do academic marks matter at all in summer placements in NITIE, Mumbai?

SA
Shruti Agarwal Posted On : August 12th, 2021
Studied at NITIE Mumbai (2019)

According to my friends studying at NITIE Mumbai, there are many important points regarding academics and summer placements:

  • Many companies come for placements and summer internships.
  • Your marks or skills are determined by the company.
  • There are several companies that fix a cutoff criterion to take part in their placement process. The candidates above the cut-off need not worry about the marks.
  • Some companies have strict HR policies in which academics are given more preference. The more your grades are the better chance you have of making it through.
  • Academics and personality are given more leverage.
  • Some companies don’t have any HR policies at all. They just give a guideline regarding the placement process to be kept short.
  • They also use a cutoff method (2 points) at least.

The candidates having low grades or academic performance can try for their placement with the Student Placement Committee. This helps to push your CV through the cutoff.

AR
Arunima Roy Posted On : November 5th, 2020
BBA LLB from Symbiosis Law School

Symbiosis Law School Hyderabad is a private institute and a constituent of Symbiosis International University. The institute has NAAC accreditation with an ‘A’ grade.

Symbiosis Hyderabad is relatively new in the field of Law and has managed to have two graduate batches so far (2019 and 2020). The institute has come a long way in terms of their job and internship placement opportunities. Here are some of the major points about the same.

Placements:

Placement rate:

Since the first batch graduated from the institute in 2019, it is difficult to comment on the statistics. However, more than 87% of students get placed every year in top-tier legal firms ever since from all the departments of this institute.

Top recruiters:

Some of the top companies that offer internship and job placements to the students include Fox Mandals, Oyo rooms, Cyient, Tatva Legal, KSK, Bajaj Allianz general insurance, and more.

Highest and average salary package:

  • The highest and the average packages that are usually offered to the students remain to be around 12 LPA and 5.6 LPA.

  • The minimum offered package varies between 3 LPA to 4 LPA.

Apart from decent placement, the institute offers great academics. Aspiring students who want to take admission at Symbiosis Hyderabad for a BAL.L.B must clear the SLAT exam. The professors are extremely helpful and experienced in their respective fields.

What is the placement scenario of EEE and EIE in the Dayanand Sagar College of Engineering?

SR
Shreyas Roy Posted On : September 10th, 2021
Studied Electrical Engineering at Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, Bangalore

One of my friends is a student at Dayanand Sagar College of Engineering and here is her insight into the placements for EEE and EIE.

Both departments have a distinct curriculum and hence different companies recruit from these branches.

  • As EEE is the core field, it is difficult to get the cutoff for few companies such as Accenture, mu-sigma, HP, etc. The number of core companies visiting the campus for placement is quite less in number.
  • Whereas EIE doesn't have single-core companies visiting while there are a lot of open options to sit in for mass recruiting companies.
  • The average package offered stays around 3-4 LPA.

Although, the recent change in curriculum due to the university's switch from VTU to autonomous, has seen an increase in the companies visiting the campus and will soon fetch better margins on placements.

How are GNDU placements and the cut-off?

HN
Harshita Nair, Posted On : November 10th, 2021
B.Tech in CSE from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar (2020)

GNDU Amritsar placements are not good but it is gradually becoming better with time.

From an engineering point of view, it is quite behind top technical colleges like the NITs. You can expect placements from mostly service-based companies like TCS, Accenture, and Wipro.

Categories GNDU Amritsar
Cut Off  Upto 1,75,000
Placement Percentage 70-80%
Highest CTC 10-12 LPA
Average CTC 5-8 LPA
Lowest CTC 2-3.5 LPA

GNDU Amritsar curriculum was outdated a few years and has recently been updated by current industry standards, which has been beneficial for students.

KS
Krunal Sampat Posted On : December 26th, 2022
Btech in Mechanical Engineering, K. J. Somaiya College of Engineering (Graduated 2018)

krunalI don’t think judging a college solely on the basis of placements is justified. Yet I have tabulated the placement statistics below to give an overall comparison.

Particulars

TAPMI

KJ Somya

Average CTC

INR 12.6 LPA

INR 10.98 LPA

Highest CTC

INR 32.2 LPA

INR 26.50 LPA

Number of Companies

100+

201

Placement Percentage

100%

99%

Other factors you can consider to decide which is better are

Location: Location-wise K J Somaya has an upper hand as it is in Mumbai, the financial hub of India. TAPMI is situated in Manipal, The student hub.

Campus: TAPMI has a much better and more beautiful campus and infrastructure than KJ Somaiya.

Accreditation: TAPMI has an upper hand as it has coveted AACSB accreditation and is among the first institutes in India to get so.

So make a choice not just on the basis of placements but also consider other important factors.

Which college is better in terms of placement and academics, GL Bajaj or IMS Ghaziabad?

SB
Soumya Barnwal Posted On : February 13th, 2023
Lived in New Delhi -110027 (2001–2016)

If you are willing to pursue B.Tech and we’re not able to make it into IITs or NITs, then I suggest taking a drop year and applying for better engineering colleges than making a hasty decision and choosing IMS. The reason why I advise you on giving up IMS is that its Engineering department is not up to the mark. The quality of education is very poor and in the end, you will just end up with a Degree Certificate and no knowledge or innovative grooming. If you decide on a certain branch then it’s important to know that no matter which specialization you go for, you will be placed under TCs or any other local software company. You won’t be able to climb higher than this. So if your goals and standards are high I suggest you think twice before choosing IMS.
