Which one is better: aerospace engineering in IIT Kanpur, aerospace engineering in IIT Madras, mechanical engineering IIT BHU, or ECE in IIT BHU?

A
Admin Posted On : June 21st, 2024

First of all you need to lose this ideology that ECE has more scope and mechanical or aerospace engineering has less scope. Every field has top notch research going in it and provides dynamic and challenging work opportunities.

I also had the same dilemma and I chose Aerospace engineering at IIT Madras over other departments due to following reasons:-

  • IIT Madras has state of the art facilities that focus on practical and industry oriented knowledge.
  • The syllabus of Aerospace follows the latest curriculum and incorporates the latest industry trends such as Structures, Aerodynamics, Propulsion, Controls, and System Design.
  • IIT Madras is in the heart of the city with a lot of entertainment hubs nearby.
  • IIT Kanpur has a NIRF ranking of 4th with IIT Madras at 1st and IIT BHU at 15th.
  • The Average salary for IIT BHU Mechanical and ECE is 12.5 LPA and 22.85 LPA.
  • The Average package for IIT Madras Aerospace Engineering is 21 LPA.
  • The Average package for IIT Kanpur Aerospace Engineering is 20 LPA.

SV
Shivangi Verma Posted On : September 13th, 2023
B.Tech from National Institute of Technology, Hamirpur (2019)

Here are some amazing things to do at NIT Hamirur

  • Nothing is better than napping endlessly during your free time. Once you enter the harsh reality of the corporate world, you will realize how precious sleep is for you.
  • Another fun activity you can do here is explore the nearby jungles and trails in and outside the campus.
  • Spend your free time socializing with your seniors instead of staying holed up in your room. Spending time with your seniors is beneficial both academically as well as socially.
  • Take an early morning jog to Ahwadevi or Tonidevi. On the way, there are small schools and villages, which might intrigue you.
  • You can also spend your free time exploring the market. The food served at stalls is worth trying.
  • There are many temples which you can visit for a change. One such temple is Jwalaji. Also, go to the temple top of the Shiv temple.
  • There are many places to explore around the campus like Chandigarh, Dharmashala, Shimla, Triund, and Nahan. Also, visit the Nangal Dam.

Make sure to explore Himachal and Kashmir during your stay and create a lot of memories during your time here!

Is it worth it to drop a year for IIT or the BITs if you are in DTU/NSIT?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : August 23rd, 2023
lives in New Delhi

It is a very personal choice. However, I can tell you about my brother’s case. He got into NSUT Delhi and decided to take a drop for the IITs. When he looks back at his decision, he regrets it a lot. It takes a toll on your physical and mental health when you obsess so much about something. My brother doesn’t regret that his Engineering studies got delayed by a year. What bothers him is how he neglected his physical and mental health, broke his connection with friends, and rarely went out, all because he wanted to get into the IITs.

Even after that, he couldn't get into the IITs and decided to go for ECE at NSUT Delhi. His mental state resulted in poor academic performance during the first two years of his Engineering life. Eventually, he got over it and worked hard during the remaining years of his B.Tech.

DTU/NSIT are pretty good colleges and offer students multiple opportunities and good placements. If you work hard, you can do great even without an IIT/BITS tag. According to my brother, no institution is worth the mental toll that a drop year takes on you.

Why does IIT Madras have 85% attendance criteria?

TB
Tithi Banerjee Posted On : March 28th, 2023
B.Tech from Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (2021)

Because of the advent of Internet facilities, students tend to skip classes and spend time gaming or involving in other online activities.

Initially, there were no attendance criteria at IIT Madras because there were no distractions like the internet and the attendance rate thus was satisfactory. But with increasing internet facilities, students stay up late gaming and then miss classes. This affected the overall performance of the institute and thus these attendance policies came into the picture.

IIT Madras has a strict attendance policy of 85% which ensures that students are

  • Regularly attending classes and staying on track with their coursework.
  • Fully engaged with their studies and are taking advantage of the educational opportunities provided by the university.
  • Prepared for the future and to have a competitive edge in the job market
  • Able to keep up with the pace of classes and not fall behind.

The Institute despite providing 24/7 Internet facilities expects the students to attend classes regularly and stay aware of the coursework.

How can I get a nativity certificate for Anna University?

RS
Rohan Sethi Posted On : December 5th, 2022
ECE Undegrad.

The nativity certificate confirms that you are of Tennessee origin. The Tahsildar office usually provides this. The Anna University website provides the format.

The VAO (Village Administrative Officer), RI (Revenue Inspector), and Tahsildar must sign the nativity certificate. The VAO and RI are supposed to investigate your nativity's credibility. They need a few of the following items to complete the process.

  • Ration card for address verification

  • Active bank account in your name or in the name of your father.

  • If applicable, a property document

Other proofs may be required by the office. Someone from the office will come and personally verify.

What is it like doing an MBA from IIT Delhi?

SP
Sona Panday Posted On : April 3rd, 2023
Studied at Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (2018)

The MBA program of IIT Delhi is much like that offered at any other B School. Doing an MBA from an engineering college doesn’t make much of a difference but the way you move forward with your degree does. The IIT tag proves to be very beneficial. Some other advantages of an MBA from IIT Delhi are

  • The location of the Institute plays a good role in attracting top recruiters
  • Great exposure and opportunities through industry interactions
  • Provides the perfect environment for learning and growing as a person
  • Top-notch infrastructure
  • Good ROI
  • Great placement scenario with the highest package this year at INR 36.7 LPA and average package at INR 21.9 LPA.

Thus the MBA program offered at DMS IIT Delhi is decent enough to be considered.

What is the present scenario at VNIT, Nagpur? Is it still worth joining?

Sayantani Barman Posted On : October 30th, 2023

I have recently graduated from VNIT Nagpur.

Based on my experience, here are a few things you must know before joining this institute-

  1. The placement figures are very average. B.Tech CS records 100% (or close to 100%) placements, but its average package is less in comparison to other NITs.
  2. The hostels are in a poor condition, especially girls’ hostels. The hostel staff is not supportive at all.
  3. Hostel messes serve poor quality food.
  4. The administration is not student friendly.

Though it is a national level institution,VNIT requires a lot of improvement in administration, infrastructure and placements.

Are the job profiles offered at MDI Gurgaon on par with IIMs like LIK, not ABC? How much effort does one have to put into his future to get on par with the IIM graduates if one graduate from there?

AR
Aditi Rajotia Posted On : March 7th, 2023
Studied at Management Development Institute, Gurgaon

IIML is clearly superior to MDI in non-marketing specializations in terms of placement. However, IIM I, K, and MDI are generally equal in terms of placements, except for a few banks that specifically seek out the IIM tag at I&K. If you work equally hard at either campus and all other operational factors are constant, you will likely end up in a similar position whether you choose MDI or I or K. However, as mentioned before, IIML still has the edge and requires more effort if you're in the finance or consulting field.

If you're interested in MDI, it's worth noting that recent placement reports show more and more prestigious finance and consulting companies are visiting the campus. This has helped MDI deliver well-rounded placements. So, if you're willing to put in the work, MDI could be a good option for you.

How many marks in the board and the GUJCET are needed to get CS at DAIICT?

KS
Kalyani Shah Posted On : June 4th, 2022
B.Tech from Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology

You will need to score 99+ percentile in boards and a GUJCET score of around 50 to get CS at DAIICT. For 2021, DAIICT cutoff for CS was 2-52 (for General category).

The number of seats available for CS minor is limited. The seats are also divided. Some of the seats are occupied by students from the Gujarat board and some are occupied by All India category students. So, you will need to be at least in the top 100, to be selected.
