KB
Komal Bora Posted On : February 28th, 2023
MBA from SVKM's NMIMS (Graduated 2018)

In case you are not able to make it into the top 6 National Law Universities, considering NMIMS law school is definitely a good choice. The school has updates to the semester system which earlier was a trimester one.

Faculty: The institute is expanding at a fast rate and its faculty is also changing, bringing in more dynamic staff. The faculty is proficient in their respective fields and adopts the best pedagogy.

Fees: The total NMIMS B.A.L.L.B. fees for this session is INR 5.1 L - 15 L.

Hostel fees: Boys- INR 1.60 L - 2.35 L/yr; Girls- IN 1.60 L - 2.35 L/yr.

However, the hostels are highly not recommended owing to the following reasons

  • Only 6 seats for law students
  • Non A/C accommodation
  • Strict rules and timings

AS
Ankit Sharma Posted On : April 26th, 2023
B.Tech. from Indian Institute of Technology, Dhanbad (2018)

If you are considering pursuing engineering education and looking for an institution that offers a great environment, culture, and bonding, IIT Dhanbad is definitely worth considering. Here are some key points to consider:

  • Environment and Culture: IIT Dhanbad has a great environment and culture that is definitely better than NIT Warangal. It is known for its senior-junior bonding, which is one of the best among all IITs and NITs.
  • Networking and Senior-Junior Relationship: IIT Dhanbad is far better than many other top engineering colleges in terms of networking and senior-junior relationship aspect. This can be a great advantage for your future career.
  • Placement: The placement scenario at IIT Dhanbad is doing great right now but needs to be improved when compared to the top 8 IITs and top 2-3 NITs. However, it all depends on individual perspectives.
  • Focus on Sports and Cultural Activities: IIT Dhanbad focuses on sports and cultural activities more than many other great institutions. This can help you groom yourself not only academically but also in other areas.
  • Professor and Student Bonding: The bonding between professors and students at IIT Dhanbad is good as compared to other top engineering colleges where most of the teachers do not know students at the individual level.
  • Unique Events: Events such as Basant, Lohri, Holi bring uniqueness that is only present in IIT-ISM Dhanbad.
  • Departments: Earth Science and Mining/Petroleum department at IIT Dhanbad are considered the No 1 available in India today. Some branches such as Civil Engineering are new here.
  • Future ROI: If you are interested in holistic education and could not get into the top 8 IITs, IIT Dhanbad can be a great investment in your future. It all depends on your individual perspective and the research you conduct.

How is NIT Patna for civil?

Sabeer Chalana Posted On : August 31st, 2023

NIT Patna is a highly reputed institution in India for civil engineering. The Department of Civil Engineering offers courses at the UG, PG, and PhD levels. The faculty members are highly qualified and have a good mix of experience and youth. Consider the following circumstances

  • If you are looking for a highly paid private sector job after completing your graduation, then this college isn’t a very good choice for you. This is because very limited core sector companies recruit civil engineers like L&T, Adani Power, Paradon, Sobha developers, etc. The packages offered are very low below INR 10 LPA.
  • If you are looking for a stable government job that gives you respect in society and connects you to the public, leaders, contractors, and builders, then NIT Patna is the best place for you.

NIT Patna is well known for its Civil Engineering branch. In fact, the main building of NIT Patna is the Civil Department. The department has highly experienced faculties who are genuinely passionate about civil engineering.

Hope this helps you!

Which is better: IIT Dhanbad or NIT Rourkela?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : August 17th, 2023

NIT Rourkela stood at 16th position and IIT (ISM Dhanbad) stood at 17th position in the NIRF 2023 Rankings for Engineering Colleges in India. These rankings are provided by the MHRD itself. IIT (ISM) Dhanbad is a good institution and holds the IIT tag since 2016. However, according to me, NIT Rourkela is better than many of the IITs, especially the new ones.

NIT R has a 1200 acre campus filled with greenery, multiple hostels with proper accommodation for boys and girls, and the facility of 1 Bhk flats for married Ph.D. scholars within the campus premises at a minimum fee. It also has a very good administrative block. NIT Rourkela is a better choice for teaching, placement, and research work.

According to me, NIT Rourkela is a better college than IIT (ISM) Dhanbad.

How do I convert Anna University’s CGPA into marks, not into a percentage?

RR
Raghav Ranjan Posted On : December 3rd, 2022
BE in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Anna University, Tamil Nadu, India (Graduated 2016)

You cannot predict the exact marks you received in the examination by converting Anna University's CGPA to marks. If you want to convert them into marks, the mark ranges for a corresponding Letter grade or Grade point are provided at the back of each Anna university mark sheet, from which you can take the maximum mark as your marks in that subject. You can calculate your CGPA's total marks by converting each grade point into a mark.

How do I get a decent CGPA in the bit mesra exam system?

Satyam Purwar Posted On : February 24th, 2024

Scoring a good CGPA at BIT Mesra exams is difficult because of the absolute grading system and strict corrections. To maintain a decent CGPA, you must give equal importance to your lab and theory exams.

Here are some tips for you-

To score high in lab-

  1. Make yourself visible to the teacher by regularly attending the lab and performing well in at least some of the practicals.
  2. Perform well in your viva and lab practicals. The objective tests hardly carry any value, or the teachers are too lazy to evaluate them and generate your final credit.
  3. Try to answer creatively and confidently during viva, even if you don’t know an answer in complete detail.

To score high in theory-

  1. Make a clear study plan, and don’t study each and every thing. Study the modules that will allow you to answer 5 questions in the exam.
  2. Don’t mug up, study topic wise, and analyze previous year question papers.
  3. First answer the questions that you know very well. This will build your credibility.
  4. Don’t leave any question. Try to answer all 5 of them. Sometimes manipulated answers fetch good marks.
  5. Try to get a little creative with subjective questions. Draw relevant diagrams and write equations. Graphs, diagrams and equations always enhance the answer.
  6. Write in a neat, well structured and point-wise manner. Don’t be lazy in putting down additional details relevant to the question.

Be regular to your classes and submit your projects on time. NCC and NSS will fetch you an extra credit per semester. Try to participate in them, and attend their sessions regularly. PT and sports are even better, they’ll have a positive impact on your credits.

Follow these tips and you’ll score a decent CGPA in your B.Tech, at BIT Mesra.

How is the M Tech AI course at IISC Bangalore in terms of placements and future prospects? How is it different from Computational and Data Science MTech programme?

MS
Monika Saha Posted On : July 21st, 2023
Studied at Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore

IISC Bangalore introduced the M.Tech AI program in 2019. It is offered by the EECS division.

For the curriculum,  the basics of optimization, linear algebra, probability, data structure, and algorithms are covered during the first semester.

M.Tech in AI is different from M.Tech in CDS in terms of core courses. The electives offered in both programs are almost the same.

The IISc Bangalore tag will be very useful in case you go for your Ph.D. in India or abroad. But for that, you need to maintain a good GPA.

The 2021 placement highlights for M.Tech AI (both off-campus and on-campus) are as follows, this was the first M.Tech AI batch-

Particulars

M.Tech AI at IISc Bangalore

PPOs received by

4 students

Highest CTC

50 LPA

Median CTC

24.5 LPA

Average CTC

27.1 LPA

Lowest CTC

13.5 LPA

Top Recruiters

Microsoft, MasterCard, Myntra, Mercedes, Qualcomm, PayU, Target, Udaan, Sharechat, and Reliance, among others.

All the students were placed. The offers received were Indian.

The CDS, CSE, and AI branches receive similar placement and internship opportunities. The students of all these branches receive offers in data science, machine learning, and software engineering.

Thus, M.Tech in AI at IISc Bangalore is a good branch in terms of placements and prospects. It is similar to the CDS program in many aspects.

Is BIT Mesra related to BITS Pilani? If not, then why is it named the Birla Institute of Technology?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : August 16th, 2023
lives in New Delhi

B.M. Birla established BIT Mesra in the year 1955. He was the brother of G.D. Birla, the founder of BITS Pilani and the main scion of the Birla family of his generation. BITS Pilani was established in 1964. The brothers were the descendants of Baldeo Das Birla. G.D. Birla’s family heads over BITS Pilani and its other campuses, and B.M. Birla’s family heads over BIT Mesra and its other campuses. The C.K. Birla group administers BIT Mesra in the present times.

Thus, the two institutions are not directly related. However, because they were both founded by members of the Birla family, both of them contain the Birla tag.

Why is NSUT/NSIT Delhi the best engineering college in India?

RT
Raktim Tarafdar Posted On : August 22nd, 2023

Indeed NSIT Delhi was the best engineering college in India but ever since it changed to NSUT, it has lost its charm and can no more be called the best engineering college.

  1. NSIT had a very limited intake whereas NSUT has a huge intake thereby diluting the available resources and opportunities.
  2. NSIT had an attendance criteria of only 50% but NSUT's attendance criteria is 75%.
  3. NSIT awards credits for fun subjects like Yoga, music, etc. but NSUT has no such rule.
  4. The intake take has increased but the infrastructure is the same. This has resulted in an overcrowded campus and unavailability of resources.
  5. NSIT Delhi students were awarded a DU degree that enjoyed global recognition. It was easier to get placed or pursue higher education abroad. NSUT Degree does not hold much value as its new and unknown to many.

However, NSUT has its own pros that people haven't been able to recognize as of yet. The infrastructure and hostel facilities have been improved and the TnP cell works harder than usual to ensure every student is placed. The college has not become autonomous so the administration is operated better. The introduction of new and diverse courses has started attracting a more diverse crowd thereby enhancing the overall learning experience.

All these combined have made both NSIT and NSUT a decent engineering college!

What are the things I must pack for NIT Warangal?

NV
Nalini Verma Posted On : August 19th, 2023
M.Tech Computer Science and Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Warangal (2018)

Shifting to a hostel is leaving your own cozy space and moving to an unknown one. The experience is quite overwhelming. You will find almost everything in and around the NIT Warangal campus. Even then, take these small and forgettable items to prevent inconvenience and multiple trips to the market-

  1. Nail cutter
  2. Water bottle
  3. Earphones
  4. Bathroom slippers, some shoes
  5. Shorts and loose T-shirts
  6. At least one traditional and one Western dress, along with accessories
  7. Books and a notebook/diary
  8. Dry fruits and snacks
  9. Skincare and toiletries
  10. A blanket

These things are quite handy and must be packed for your stay at the NIT Warangal hostel.

Also, do not forget to pack your important documents and certificates .
