Prof. Nirabari Bandyopadhyay is the Professor at iLead College, Kolkata. She has been associated with iLEAD since July 2018. She had her specialization on Cultural Politics of Male Body in Hindi Cinema. Prior to this position, she has worked as Social Media Marketing and brand manager in many companies in Kolkata since 2011. She had participated as a speaker in many workshops on digital art. Along with that, she has organized many heritage walks and has a great interest in street photography.
What are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

Being a teacher and educator, it is important to pass on proper information and enhance the skill to educate the students. The teacher-student relationship and mentoring is the backbone for any Film Institute. We not only provide proper guidance and make them industry-ready but also develop self-assessment skills. For aesthetic and professional development, we apply comprehensive teaching, planning, presentation, and evaluation.
How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards learning?

The curriculum includes assignments and live projects, in which students create fiction films, documentaries, soundscapes, and photo stories. Students will work under the guidance of mentors from conceptualization to final product development. In addition, the industry professionals regularly conduct Master Classes.
What are the best practices offered by the department to the students?
“Participation in international film festivals and projects is encouraged for students”
In order to develop the theoretical and technical skills of students, we organize Industry-focused Sessions & Collaborative Programs. We have taken into consideration all the aspects of filmmaking while designing this course. Covering all technical aspects of filmmaking and providing one of the best infrastructure and technical support systems of Audio-Visual Library, Chroma Studio, Post Production Studio, and Sound Studio. The students are encouraged and guided to participate in different International Film Festivals and Projects. The students are trained under our studio team and they can work on several client projects.

How does your department prepare students for Higher education?
"Exploration of alleys through rigorous classes, demonstrations, and practice”
In addition to learning the aesthetics of screenplay writing, the students also study post production and visual effects. We provide rigorous theory classes, demonstrations, and hands-on sessions to encourage students to explore the various alleyways. By studying the socio-political and cultural context of cinema, they are inspired to discover their own artistic vision and find their cinematic expression. During the course, the students will be introduced to the latest trends in the industry that will help prepare them for higher studies in different film schools.
How do you help your students thrive in the competitive world?
“Practical learning during internships at Film and TV Production house”
As a part of the syllabus, the students will be taken as interns by a reputed Film Production house, Television production house and celebrated directors during the 5th and 6th semester. They will be assigned specific roles depending on the area of expertise. With this in hand instruction, they will have a better understanding of their work and will be better prepared for their career
