What are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

“To make them educationally, emotionally and ethically strong”

Being a faculty member of the Economics and Finance Department, my basic accountability is to provide students with the finest knowledge and core concepts of the subject I teach. It’s not only the teaching and syllabus but it’s also my responsibility to educate them about how to apply grasped knowledge and information practically in their life. Also, I take the papers of finance like Business Taxation, Merger and Acquisition and Banking operations and Analytics. Lastly, I make sure that my students remain conscious and honest in their studies. Because a disciplined, ethically and emotionally strong student can achieve every height of success.

What are some of the greatest strengths of your college?

“Our infrastructure and teachers makes us strong”

The cooperation and coordination of our competitive faculty members make the ISM one of the successful colleges in India and help us to step forward for initiating the changes toward development. We are having a very good infrastructure which is equipped with all the latest technologies makes us unique in comparison to others. We always put our best to make our college environment healthy and cordial which is best suited to our student's needs.

What are the approaches you bring in apart from the curriculum to teach your students?

“I ensure the participation of all my students during classes”

Generally while teaching my students, I create a participative environment and involve them as the lead characters in examples. Because in my opinion, the best way to explain and train students are to involve them in real-time scenarios and situations. But in the end, I would also like to acknowledge that making students disciplined becomes tough for us sometimes as many students come from different socio-economic and educational backgrounds and it creates a kind of communication gap for us. And to make them disciplined, I need to be strict during classes.

How does your department train faculty as per the industry standards?

How does the curriculum of your department ensure the best practices of the industry?

“We carefully scrutinize the pattern which our industry and college friends follow”

Every year before starting the new semester and tri-semester of different courses, our department first updates it on par with the syllabus which is followed in different reputed and esteemed colleges and universities. We also take suggestions of our corporate friends and experts (who are having the knowledge and update of the current happenings of the market) to include the latest industry requirements in our curriculum. The reason behind this feedback mechanism is that it gives valuable improvement to the curriculum.

What extracurricular activities are organized to enhance the skills of the students?

“Corporate visits and training programs is what we normally conduct”

Our main focus during every semester is to increase the interaction of our students with industrial exposure and for this, we ensure sufficient industrial visits and tours for them because updated technical knowledge and skills are required to get a good job opportunity. The main idea behind this is to make them learn how to use their theoretical knowledge in the corporate world and make them more competitive. We also conduct online trading sessions, expert talks on cryptocurrency and financial modeling-like programs with the support of our whole department to make our students aware of the new practices in the field of finance. Experts from world-level colleges and universities share their knowledge through expert series on different current issues and changes in the finance world.

How do you help your student to cope with this competitive world?

“By teaching them how to keep patience in tough times”

To prepare them for this competitive world, I enforce to build multitasking skills in them by assigning various kinds of tasks and assignments. Because it will not only teach them the value of time but will also instill other skills like teamwork, management and handling stressful situations with patience. My main aim is to develop good communication skills along with a strong knowledge of using computers and the internet. Lastly, I ensure to strengthen their technical knowledge by taking their assessments from time to time.

How does your department prepare students for higher education and placements?

“We conduct expert talks for them in this respect”

Our students are completing their courses with different specializations and different interests. According to their interests and specialization, we proffer them with various kinds of platforms, expert sessions and workshops to provide them with the required consultation they might need while opting for higher education. Coming to placements, a good number of reputed companies like Infosys and Reliance digital store come for placement on the campus every year. This is proof of the hard work that we put in our students.

How do you bring in a practical and industry-oriented approach towards subjects?

“By introducing them with various case studies and industry examples”

There are always various changes going on so to enforce a practical and industry-oriented approach, I use real-life examples, case studies and relevant changes in the industries during my classroom teaching and I not only tell them, but also discuss it with my students to know their viewpoints on different aspects. Audio-visual classes, Practical examples, case studies and relevant changes in the industries are discussed with students during sessions that we conduct on regular basis. Students through industrial training get the opportunity to learn the corporate culture and corporate working style. Events like mergers, acquisitions, takeovers, joint ventures, etc. are conducted in the corporate world. These happenings bring change in the ways of working and operational activities. All this is discussed with our students to make them aware of these real situations.

How do you establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

“By ensuring my availability, trust and respect towards them”

I always look after the needs and interests of my students and fellow faculties, in short, I ensure my availability and attention when they need me to strengthen my existing relationship with them and to make existing relations friendlier. Because this not only makes the bond strong but also ensures the environment of mutual trust and respect among us.
