Haya Qazi is the Dean academics of the SSM College of Engineering and Technology, Baramulla. He did B Tech and M Tech in civil engineering from sushant university. Recently, she is pursuing Phd in Waste management research topic from Amity University, Noida. She has more than 3 years of experience in the education sector. She was also awarded for environmental safety initiatives.

What is your philosophy of leadership and describe your leadership style?

“To focus on students' progress and encourage them for excellence”

Being the Education Administrator of this college, I aim to encourage the students to strive for excellence in every sphere. I believe in working hand in hand with the staff and students. We focus on collaboration and information-sharing which helps in the progress of students and college as a whole.


What are the all courses available and describe total seats available in the respective courses?

“Provide courses in civil, mechanical, electrical, electronics and communications, and computer science engineering”

We offer five B Tech courses in civil, mechanical, electrical, electronics, communications, and computer science engineering. We also have Bachelors in Business Administration. Our college offers 5 Masters programs and diploma courses.


The education systems in India and other foreign countries are structured very differently. In your experience, what can an inbound student gain from studying here in your institute?

“Experiential learning, innovative culture, and research are gained by an inbound student”

At SSM, we strive for learning by doing. Our students have won various honorariums for their innovations and research. We have beat the government universities who have been well-known for their innovation culture. This shows our emphasis on experiential learning.

“Inclusive environment provided to all people from our campus”

We have a very inclusive environment at our college. Students from all backgrounds are welcome. Our hostel facility is available at minimal fee, wherein students from far flung areas can reside.

What do you think should be the College’s top priority over the next 10 years?

“To focus on intellectual growth and employments for students are top priority for upcoming years”

Over the next 10 years, SSM aims to produce graduates who are well-versed with the demands of time. Our students should be able to generate employment and be responsible citizens. At SSM, we not only focus on academics but also cultural and intellectual growth. We want our students to excel in any field they choose.


What do you see as College’s greatest strengths?

“Ideal environment, faculties and students are our greatest strengths”

Our college is the only oldest private engineering college in the Kashmir valley, established in 1988. It is set on the Karewas with the scenic Himalayas in the backdrop. We provided the most ideal environment for the intellectual growth of students with best faculty and management support. It is our greatest strength. There’s not even one place on the globe where you won’t find a pass out of SSM, that too at top positions.

How do you tend to establish a healthy relationship and environment in your institute?

“Organize the best green campus award, cleanliness and plantation drives on campus”

Our college was awarded the best Green Campus award by the Indian Society for Technical Education in 2020. We work closely with the leading environmentalist and environmental organizations of Kashmir. All our students have a strong sense of responsibility to protect the environment. We frequently conduct cleanliness and plantation drives around the campus. We even have an incinerator on campus


Any new courses you are planning to launch in this coming academic year?

“Decided to formulate new new age technologies like AIML, 3d printing, and courses from arts and humanities on campus”

Our campus decided to implement new courses in the upcoming year. We are in talks to start new courses covering new age technologies like AIML, 3d printing, and courses from arts and humanities to pupils.
