What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

“My association with the education sector is by choice and not by chance”

Teaching is more of a passion than a profession for me. I enjoy working with young, bright and budding minds to my heart’s content. It allows me to make a difference in my students’ lives which gives me a great sense of satisfaction. Apart from this, being a teacher, it allows me to understand students’ interests and aspirations and to infuse among them a sense of support, stability and hope for a bright future. This has kept me motivated to stay connected with the education sector.

What is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

“I believe in authentic leadership”

A good leader should ‘walk the talk’. I am a firm believer of the maxim that a leader leads by example and being the senior-most member of faculty, I always implement this belief into my actions. My leadership style is best described as a transformational leadership style. As Dean Academics, my first task of leadership was to inculcate throughout the institution a state of mind that accepts the inevitability of change.

How do you strategize about the key programs and plans for the marketing and administration of your department?

“Our alumni are our brand ambassadors”

To pursue our goals of excellence, we have instituted a well defined decentralized organizational structure for the effective and efficient functioning of various organs of the department.

What do you think should be the College's top priority over the next 10 years?

“Imparting true significance and meaning to the slogan ‘local for global’”

Presently, the college is affiliated to Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. Our priority over the next 10 years will be to seek autonomy as that will enable us to determine and prescribe our courses of study and syllabi, restructure and redesign the courses to suit local and global needs. Although the college has dedicated research labs, a start-up lab with modern high precision equipment but the affiliating structure of the institution is limiting our research capabilities. Once we get autonomy, we will be able to promote research in relevant fields.
