Dr.J. Vimala Ithayan B.E, M.E, Ph.D. is the head of the AI & DS department. He received both his undergraduate and doctoral degrees from Anna University. He has 12 years of education and 2 years of experience in the sector. He has authored more than five scholarly articles. His area of expertise is large data sets. He was previously a member of the computer science department and is now the department head for AI and DS.

What is your leadership philosophy? How would you describe your style of leadership?

"Teamwork and adaptability to circumstances makes a leader better. Frequently, I am astonished that I can handle even the worst situations"

My passion for teaching is one of my greatest qualities; it has helped me grow tremendously and made me aware of my civic responsibilities. Education is a field that has taught me a great deal. Formerly affiliated with the department of computer science, I am now the head of AI & DS and I hope management has taken note.

What should be the College's major priority over the next decade, in your opinion?

"Placement remains our primary objective. We are still working to improve"

This year, in an effort to introduce new technologies, we began teaching AI and DS to first-year students. With this machine-based technology, humans are capable of performing any task. Therefore, we must bring this technology. We have AR and VR technologies, but no other school has these licences. Many colleges are at the top of the list because of their placements, and only based on placements results would parents allow their children to go, therefore as I stated, we are aiming to achieve the best placements results.

How do you attempt to infuse subjects with a practical approach and make them industry-focused?

“We have our own industry-based technology in the labs, as well as seminar projects and student-driven internships"

All of our facilities conform to Anna University specifications. We all have experience in the sector. They are involved in on-campus initiatives, internships, and IPT, but we have all the necessary resources.

In what ways does your institution prepare students for placements?

"Placement cells bring in companies and organise various activities based on the interests of the students"

If they score well in test interviews, students are granted permission to leave university. Skills in written and verbal communication, including the ability to identify target audiences, make arguments, explain ideas, and provide context for a variety of issues. Learn the most persuasive techniques and how to write and talk with clarity and precision.

Do you offer extracurricular activities or programmes that develop students' skills or expose them to real-world obstacles?

"We have twenty clubs for each department, and we encourage students to participate in all seminars and paper presentations based on their main areas of interest"

According to the interests of the students, additional activities will be offered. They form a team and exchange information to better their professions. Participating in activities enables you to build leadership skills and utilise them in the future, communicate with people on various levels, efficiently organise your ideas and actions, and collaborate with new people.

What obstacles did you confront/do you face to improve the quality of education at your college?

"We used to read books, but the reading proficiency of today's students is rather low"

This generation of young people reads comparatively few books, prefers to pay attention to their electronic devices such as mobile phones and computers, and prefers to hang out with their pals. Nonetheless, people use mobile devices that are physically damaging to them without concern. They should take this into account and act accordingly.

What was your vision when you entered college, and how are you attempting to realise it?

"When I originally enrolled at this college, I intended to create the Research Opportunities Should Be Created document"

 Academics Were Acceptable, but There Are Still Projects that Must be done include gathering information and putting it to use. Since the majority of faculty members are undertaking research for their doctoral and advanced degrees, the only objective is to convey practical knowledge to students and teachers.

How does the department/college improve the faculty's skills and train them to meet industry standards?

Programme for faculty development, such as the courses offered by the Central government, the Anna university, and the State government In addition, AICTE programmes contribute to the advancement of our knowledge and the teaching and learning process in the context of entrepreneurship by developing innovation-focused institutions. Therefore, we adhere to the directives of our administration and participate in a variety of on-campus and off-campus initiatives. Participating in training workshops and seminars.

What essential career advice would you like to provide to the students so that they may have a prosperous future?

"In this highly competitive market, new and improved technologies are accessible"

It is impossible for them to study without their teachers, but they do it anyway. Students engage in things other than studying, but when in college, they should prioritise their studies. There are numerous resources available for skill development, and even students can learn something from Google or YouTube. My advice is for children to prioritise their academics, as many obstacles may arise if they are still in school.
