What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

"My passion of upgrading my knowledge and educating students have kept me connected"

I was always passionate about educating others and helping them to create a good life for themselves. Also I get a feeling of satisfaction and happiness whenever I teach my students. Apart from all this, I need to upskill myself as per changing technologies and industrial trends, so these things together in my opinion have kept me associated with the education sector.

What do you think should be the college's top priority over the next 10 years?

"It should be to improve the training programs and educational practices of our college"

Our college is already working on bringing best placement opportunities and training programs for students and I firmly believe that we should work in the same direction and try to implement things in a more efficient way. We are also planning to establish a Tech Park in our college campus in the upcoming years. Also we have a diverse range of students having different educational and economical backgrounds, and this I believe makes us strong to a great extent.

How do you bring in a practical and industry oriented approach towards subjects?

"By organizing customized training programs as per industry standards and students needs"

For the purpose of enforcing an industry driven and practical approach towards subjects, we assign real time projects to students from the first year itself. And we have collaborated with esteemed organizations to help and support us to conduct placement specific, industry oriented and customized training programs for students. This practice not only helps students to stay updated with industrial demands but also helps them to upskill themselves accordingly.

How does your college prepare students for placements?

"By encouraging them to work on real time projects and internships"

We encourage our students to participate in research-oriented activities and utilize their classroom learning to solve some real world issues. And recently, our college has received funds from the Department of Science, India, which we will be utilizing to conduct research activities and gain industry oriented knowledge for students. This is how we prepare them for the placements and actual interview process.

What challenges are you facing in uplifting the education quality of your college?

"Reducing students addiction of mobile phones is biggest issue currently"

There are different kinds of challenges which we are facing at different levels, but the most prominent one of them is behavioral changes in students due to the addiction of social media. And it is well known that when students get distracted due to these kinds of things, it becomes very difficult to shift their focus towards their studies, but we are working hard to amend the situation as soon as possible.

Which extracurricular activities are organized in college to enhance the skills of students?

"Various kinds of sports activities, technical events are welfare activities are organized by us"

We firmly believe that extra-curricular activities have a great impact on overall development of students as academics alone is insufficient to accommodate all the skills they might need in future. And frankly speaking I am not a sports person, but yes for the benefit of our students, we do organize various kinds of indoor and outdoor sports games to keep students physically and mentally fit, musical fests to bring out hidden talents of them, technical events to strengthen their technical skills followed by the social welfare activities to teach them compulsory social skills. We also have a Japanese Technologies club where we try to cultivate multiple trees and create mini forests around our college campus.

How does your college enhance the faculty skills and prepare them as per industry standards?

"They are trained through intercampus teaching sessions and NPTEL courses"

Our college has made it mandatory for faculty of every department to do a minimum of 2 programs in order to stay updated with the latest technological developments and upskill themselves. In addition to this, our college conducts an intercampus teaching improvement program to help faculty members modify their teaching model in line with industrial standards and requirements. Lastly, faculty do various certification courses as well through learning platforms like NPTEL.

When you joined Christ College, what was your vision for it and how are you trying to achieve the same?

"My aim being an Assistant Professor was to give the best knowledge and skills to students"

I started my teaching career in Christ College as an Assistant Professor where I need to teach Postgraduate students, so my aim at that time was to provide them with the finest quality education and amenities using my past knowledge, experiences and college available resources. When I moved to Placement Cell, initially I thought it was not for me, but after analyzing students' issues and status with respect to placement, I think it was worth sacrificing my position of Assistant Professor and becoming a Placement Coordinator, because students growth is important above everything and this is my ultimate goal at the end.

What valuable advice would you like to give to the students for a prosperous career ahead?

"Upgrade your skills and don't depend on anyone for anything"

I have been in the education sector for the last 11 years and as much as I have observed the students, they can be categorized into two groups, first is those who are polite and confident and know are always clear about their life goals, so I don't think they need to be advised anything as they are already doing great. Now comes those students, who are lazy and stay dependent on others, so I would advise such students to focus on their studies and don't be in your comfort zone always, come out of it, try new things, develop new skills and always respect your elders.
