HafenCity Campus
- HCU campus is located right at the center of HafenCity of Hamburg and is spread over an area of 147 hectares. It can be considered as an architectural marvel, true to its objective.
- The HafenCity University can be considered a truly metropolitan university as it is, locationally, a part of Europe’s most ambitious urban development projects, that is, the expansion of HafenCity’s total area covered by 40 per cent by 2025.
- This allows the university to be an active participant of the dynamism attached with the project.
- The self administration committees of HCU include the Student Parliament (StuPa)and the General Student Committee. These two bodies represent the interest of the student and also decide on the budget.
- HCU is equipped with a world class library with more than 76,000 books and a rapidly increasing stock of e-learning packages.
- The university has a cartography database which maintains a sizable collection of geodata and maps for use in research by HCU students.
- The university’s podcast series – ‘City Talk’ – has released five topics and has discussed various topics in urban development and planning.
HafenCity University Residence
- For international students, there are many on-campus and off campus housing options while studying in Germany.
- Hamburg Studierendenwerk has 24 student residences which provide accommodation to more than 4,000 students.
- The accommodation features include barbecue area, music room, cable network and sports hall among others.
- The rental price ranges from 250 to 400 EUR per month.

HafenCity Programs
HafenCity University offers a multitude of programs in planning and architecture for both domestic and international students.
- HCU offers bachelor's degrees in five programs, namely, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Geomatics, Metropolitan Cultures and Urban Planning.
- The university provides a Masters degree in Geomatics, Architecture,Urban Planning, Architectural Engineering, and Urban Design.
- The university also offers a multidisciplinary Masters degree program in Resource Efficiency in Architecture and Planning (REAP).
- The international office of HCU also offers courses like scientific writing and foreign languages.
- The mode of imparting education in HafenCity University is German, barring, for two Master degree programs, that is MS in Geomatics and REAP, wherein English is used as a medium of instruction.
Application Process
International students have to complete a two tier application process while applying for admission at HafenCity University. The first step is to apply via uni-assist and then fill the online application at HCU portal.
