IIM Selection Process: Eligibility Criteria

CAT eligibility criteria for admission in the IIMs are as mentioned below:

• Minimum 50% aggregate marks in graduation for general category candidates. 
• Minimum 45% aggregate marks in graduation for reserved category candidates. 
• Candidates appearing for the final year of UG are also eligible. 
• Candidates qualifying the minimum CAT cut off criteria decided by the institute. 

IIM Admission Criteria and Selection Process 2023-25

IIM admission criteria include the selection of candidates based on their CAT percentile along with the performance of candidates in WAT/GD and PI, academic history, academic diversity, gender diversity, and work experience.

• Some of the IIMs have also scrapped WAT and GD.
• Due to the rise in COVID cases, the PI round was conducted via video calls in the last 2 years. This year, IIMs may conduct face-to-face interviews depending on the pandemic situation.
• The important dates related to the admission process will be released shortly.

Stages of CAT 2022 IIM Admission and Selection Process

CAT 2022 IIM admission process can be divided into the following stage: 

Stage 1: Shortlisting of Candidates based on CAT scores

• Candidates have to apply by visiting the official websites of IIMs to become eligible for the admission process. 
• Candidates who are qualifying for the CAT cut off decided by the institute will become eligible for stage 2 of the admission process. 

Stage 2: Shortlisting of Candidates for WAT/GD-PI

• Candidates are shortlisted on the basis of their CAT score and academic record. 
• WAT-GD-PI round is conducted based on which candidates will be judged and awarded marks for the final selection process. 

Stage 3: Calculation of Composite Score

• Composite score of each candidate is calculated based on various parameters. 
• Based on the composite scores the final selection list will be prepared. 

The factors considered by IIMs for GD-WAT-PI include the parameters given below. However, every IIM has its own specific weightage assigned to these parameters that is given in the next section.

IIM Shortlist Criteria is released by the IIMs in their admission policy. Candidates can go through IIM Shortlist Criteria provided below to know about the same. The changes in the admission criteria 2023-25 will be updated after the release of the official brochure of the IIMs.

IIM Final Admission Criteria for 2023-25 Batch

Given below are the selection criteria for all the top IIMs for preparation of the final merit list for admission 2023-25. These criteria are subject to change based on the release of the IIM admission brochure for CAT 2022.

IIM Ahmedabad Admission Criteria

The final selection of candidates in IIM-A will be done based on the scores obtained against various parameters. The formula to calculate the final composite scores is: 

Final Selection – FCS = PIF * Normalised PI Score + AWTF * Normalised AWT Score + CATF_FCS * Normalised CAT Score + ARF_FCS * AR

• Personal Interview Multiplication Factor (PIF) = 0.50
• AWT Multiplication Factor (AWTF) = 0.10
• CAT Score Multiplication Factor for Final Composite Score (CATF_FCS) = 0.25
• Application Rating Multiplication Factor for Final Composite Score (ARF_FCS) = 0.15

IIM Bangalore Admission Criteria

Admission is based on the following criteria: 

• Written Ability Test (WAT) (weight = 10)
• Personal Interview (PI) (weight = 35)
• CAT (weight = 25)
• 10th board (weight = 10) 
• 12th board (weight = 10) 
• Weighted Work Experience (weight = 10)

IIM Calcutta Admission Criteria

Admission is based on the following criteria: 

• CAT  Score  Weighatge = 30
• Written Ability Test (WAT) = 08
• Personal Interview (PI) Weightage = 48
• Point awarded for Academic Diversity at Bachelor’s level for Non- Engineering degree Weighatge = 06

• Personal Interview Score Weightage = 35%
• WAT Score= 20%

IIM Indore Admission Criteria

The Admission in IIM Indore is based on the following criteria:
