The New College is located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu and was established in 1951. TNC is run by the Muslim Educational Association of Southern India (MEASI). The institute is a Government-Aided Muslim minority College affiliated to the University of Madras.
The New College offers courses in two shifts i.e. both day and evening, the evening shift courses are self-financed. Candidates can apply for UG, PG, Ph.D. and M. Phil courses in Arts, Commerce and Science subjects.
- Application forms are filled through online mode. Forms can also be obtained from the college and through the post as well.
- The last date for submission of completed application forms for Undergraduate Courses will be the 10th day after the date of publication of the Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary Examination results.
- Similarly, the last date of submitting forms for PG courses is the 10th day after the date of publication of Undergraduate Degree Examination results of the University of Madras.

The New College offers three-year BA, B.Sc and B.Com course in two shifts in several specializations. Candidates applying should have passed HSC from a recognized board along with the concerned subject of admission.

The New College offers MA, M.Sc and M.Com courses at postgraduate level. The courses are offered in two shifts. Courses are offered as both Aided and Self Financing.
Minimum eligibility for admission to PG courses is graduation in the concerned discipline. Admission is given on the basis of the merit of the candidate in the qualifying exam and interview.

The New College, Chennai Application Process
Candidates have to apply online for all UG courses. For PG and M. Phil courses, application forms can also be collected from college office. Candidates need to follow below mentioned steps to fill online:
- Visit the official website at www.thenewcollege.in and Click on 'Admission’
- Click on Pay online and fill all the relevant details. The application fee is INR 200 for UG courses and INR 250 for PG and Research courses.
- Choose the Payment Mode and Submit.
- Candidates must note down the ' IOB PAY Track Id / SBI Select Payment Category ' and date of payment.
- Enter “IOB Pay Track Id/ SBI Select Payment Category” and date of payment.
- Enter the course of admission and click on Apply button.
- Fill all the relevant information like Permanent Address, academic information etc.
- Verify the filled date and click on Confirm.
- After completing the application procedure, the application number will be generated and the same will be sent to the mobile. Quote the Application Number for any queries regarding admission.

Scholarships
The New College offers following scholarships for the students. Students are directed to meet the class counselor/ scholarship clerk in the office for more details on various scholarships.
- Merit Cum Means Scholarship
- A national merit-cum-means scholarship is offered to students belonging to minority communities.
- Only those candidates who have secured a minimum of 50% marks in the qualifying examination are eligible.
- This scholarship is available for UG, PG, and M.Phil. And Ph.D. courses. The annual income of parents of eligible candidates should not be more than INR 1, 00,000.
- National Loan Scholarship
- This scholarship is for UG and PG students belonging to SC and ST category.
- The applicants should have scored a minimum of 50% in the qualifying examination.
- This scholarship is available only for students staying in reputed/approved hostels.
- The annual income limit is INR 1, 00,000.
- Scholarship for the physically challenged
- Candidates who are deaf/hearing impaired, visually and, orthopedically challenged are offered this scholarship.
- Parent’s income should not be more than INR 1, 00,000.
- Residential and non-residential state scholarships
- This scholarship is for students belonging to SC, ST, and those converted from Hinduism to Christianity. Such candidates should be natives of Tamil Nadu.
- Annual Income limit: Rs. 2, 00,000/- for SC., ST., and Rs. 1, 00,000/- for Christian converts.
- Candidates who have done school education in the Union Territory of Pondicherry are offered Pondicherry state Post-Metric scholarship.
- Directorate of Tribal Affairs, Government of Manipur, gives Post-Metric scholarships for students from Manipur state.
- Those belonging to Territory of Lakshadweep are awarded scholarships by Administration of the Government of Union Territory of Lakshadweep.
- Directorate of Higher Education, Kohima, Nagaland, gives Post-Metric scholarships for students from Nagaland state.
- Under Tamil Nadu Agricultural Labourers – Farmer’s Welfare Scheme, students belonging to the family of farmer’s community are offered scholarships by the Directorate of Collegiate Education, Tamil Nadu.
- Candidates who are pursuing Ph.D. are offered stipend by The Directorate of Collegiate Education, Tamil Nadu.
- Students scoring 80% or above in the qualifying exam are offered scholarships by Ministry of Human Resource Development through the Directorate of Collegiate Education, Tamil Nadu.
- Ministry of Labor, Government of India, gives scholarships to the children of Beedi / Mine / Cine workers from Tamil Nadu.
- Wards of Secondary Grade Teachers who are working in Government Recognized Primary and Middle Schools for pursuing M.A., M.Sc., M.Com. M.Ed., ML, M.C.A., M.Phil courses in Tamilnadu are given scholarships.
- Candidates applying for this scholarship must have secured not less than 60% marks in the U.G. Courses.
- Selection is made on the merit basis.
- There is no income limit.
- The parent body of The New College, Muslim Educational Association of Southern India (MEASI) awards scholarships to poor and deserving Muslim students pursuing unaided courses in the Day College and all UG and PG course in the Evening College.
