Life at IIM Shillong
IIM Shillong is situated in a peaceful setting surrounded by pine trees, a lake, and beautiful walking trails. The campus is well-equipped with classrooms, hostels, a mess/ cafeteria, sports arena, IT infrastructure, and many more facilities. The campus has 4 blocks of hostels with facilities like sports, recreation, and dining.
The classes at IIM Shillong start at 9 am. Each of the sessions is usually 1.5 hours long that includes lectures, interactive sessions, case studies, presentations, etc. The classes usually end and continue till 6 pm and some of the sessions are also held at night. Then the rest of the day is spent attending group meetings or club meetings, making assignments, and preparing for the next day's classes.

National Fellowship & Scholarship for Higher Education of Scheduled Tribe Students (Central Sector Scheme)
- These scholarships are for those who are willing to pursue higher degree courses like MPhil, Ph.D and belong to ST category. Students must have passed the Post-graduation/Master Degree examination in order to be eligible for National Fellowship Programmes.
- Students eligible for availing such scholarships shall be selected on a merit-basis. Students can apply for the scholarships at the notified time, through https://fellowship.tribal.gov.in
- Seats Availability:- There are a total of 750 seats for intake of students into National Fellowship Programmes. However, in contrast cases the following is to be done:-
i) In case the number of applicants exceeds the number of available slots for awards, selection will be made on the basis of marks obtained in post-graduation exam.
ii) In cases when enough students from ST Category are not available, the no. of fellowships not availed by students during that year will be carried forward to the next academic year.

Merit Cum Means Scholarship For Professional and Technical Courses CS
- The scholarships are solely kept for providing financial assistance to the poor and meritorious students belonging to minority communities. This is to enable them to pursue professional and technical courses.
Eligibility
- Students with more than 50% marks or equivalent grade in the previous final examination and the annual income of their parents/guardians from all sources does not exceed INR 2.50 lakhs.
- Minorities section include Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Jain and Zoroastrians (Parsis) under Section 2 (c) of the National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992.
- Seats Availability:- A total of 60,000 scholarships are targeted to be distributed as “Fresh” Scholarships, besides, Renewal scholarships.

- The aim is to provide financial assistance to meritorious students from poor families to meet a part of their day-to-day expenses while pursuing degree programs.
Eligibility
- Students with gross parental / family income up to INR 4.5 lakh per annum are eligible for scholarship under the scheme.
- Seats Availability:- A total of 82,000 seats are available as fresh scholarships every year for pursuing graduate / postgraduate degree in colleges and universities and for professional courses.
- Eligible students can apply through NSP Portal i.e. https://scholarships.gov.in when the scholarships are being activated.

Apoorva MurjaniIIM ShillongThe admissions process for the Post-Graduate Program (PGP) at IIM Shillong involves two stages. In the first stage, candidates who have qualified through the Common Admission Test (CAT) are shortlisted and invited to take the Writing Skills Assessment Test (WSAT) and participate in a Personal Interview (PI). The second stage involves the creation of a final merit list based on the candidates' performance in the WSAT, PI, and other relevant factors such as their GMAT scores, scholastic performance, and work experience.
Overseas candidates will also go through a similar process, with the Admissions Committee carefully reviewing their applications and shortlisting those who meet the necessary criteria. These candidates will then be invited to take the WSAT and participate in a PI, which may be held in one of four cities in India or conducted remotely via video conferencing. The final selection of candidates is based on their performance in the WSAT, PI, and the criteria used for shortlisting them for the PI. Tentative offers of admission will be made by the end of April, and registration for the PGP program is tentatively scheduled for the first week of July at the IIM Shillong campus.

- Take a shared cab from Airport/Railway station and take a stop at Police Bazar. From there you can take another cab to IIM Shillong which is around 15 mins away.
- You can directly hail a private cab from Guwahati Airport or Guwahati Railway station to IIM Shillong. This option is suitable for those who are traveling to the college for the first time. The fair amounts to something around 2k and can be shared by people accompanying you.

No, there aren’t any foreign exchange programs available at IIM Shillong. It’s a relatively new IIM and lacks in this aspect.
However, the PGPEx-MBIC program is a joint program between IIM Shillong and the Ocean University of China. Under this program, the students from IIM Shillong go to OUC, China for a period of 4 months. This is part of the international immersion, which also includes a 2-month internship in China. The course is open to foreign nationals as well.
