Coimbatore Institute of Management and Technology (CIMAT), established in the year 1996, is situated in Tamil Nadu. It is affiliated to Bharathiar University. The institute is recognized by AMIA (All India Management Association).

At present, CIMAT offers MBA, MCA, M.Phil and Ph.D. degrees in Management Studies and Computer Applications.

For admission to MBA and MCA, candidates are required to possess a bachelor’s degree in any stream. However, for MCA, the candidates must have Mathematics as one of the compulsory subjects at graduation level.

The selection of the candidates to the MBA program is based on CAT/TANCET scores along with their performance in GD and Personal Interview.

While for MCA, the candidates must qualify TANCET along with the merit of the qualifying exam and personal interview.

For M.Phil. and Ph.D., the candidates are required to have a Master’s degree in relevant subjects with a minimum of 55% marks. The candidates are selected on the basis of TANCET in M.Phil while for Ph.D., UGC-NET qualification is mandatory.

CIMAT is well-known amongst the local population. The institute has maintained an average placement record with a basic salary package ranging from 3-10 LPA.

CIMAT Coimbatore Admission Highlights 2023

The institute offers four specializations under the discipline of MBA- Marketing, Finance, HR, and Systems.

MCA is offered with the following six specializations-

CIMAT Coimbatore MBA/MCA Eligibility

MBA

• Any UG/ PG degree as per the regulations of Bharathiar University- BA/B.Sc/B.Com or BBA or BE/B.Tech/MA/ M.Sc/M.Com/ ME/ M.Tech.
• Obtained at least 50% (45% in case of candidate belonging to reserved category) at the qualifying Examination.

MCA

• A bachelor’s degree with Mathematics at +2 level or any degree with at least a paper in Mathematics or Statistics at degree level.
• Recognized Bachelor’s Degree of minimum 3 years duration in BCA, B.Sc (IT/ Computer Science) with Mathematics as a course at 10+2 level or at Graduate level. 
• Secured a minimum of 50% marks at the qualifying exams.

CIMAT Coimbatore MBA/MCA Selection Criteria

Admission to the MBA or MCA program will be done on the basis of TANCET followed by GD and PI.

Exam Pattern-

• The question paper will comprise of 100 objective questions.
• Duration of exam: 120 minutes
• Total Marks: 100 marks

Note: 

• The candidates with BCA/ B.Sc. (IT/Computer Applications) degrees are eligible for lateral entry in MCA 2nd year directly.
• Candidates who appeared in the final year examinations are also eligible to apply.
• Reservations for SC/ ST/ OBC and other minorities’ categories are based as per the norms and rules of State Govt. along with a relaxation of 5% in the aggregate score.

Coimbatore Institute of Management and Technology offers M.Phil and Ph.D. in Management Studies and Computer Applications. 

Note: 

• The candidates who have completed the Master’s degree in less than 17 years of age are not eligible for admission in M.Phil/ Ph.D.
• Candidates belonging to SC/ ST categories are granted relaxation of 5% to the aggregate of the qualifying examination.

CIMAT Coimbatore M.Phil. & Ph.D. Selection Criteria

• Admission to the M.Phil. program will be granted on the basis of TANCET. 
• The selection to the Ph.D. program is done on the basis of the score in UGC-NET.

Note: 

• Candidates with valid qualifications in GATE/ UGC-NET/ CSIR-NET/ SLET/ JRF or Research fellowship are eligible for direct admission in the Ph.D. programs.
• Candidates who hold M.Phil degrees are also exempted from State CET.

Candidates can either submit the application form directly by visiting the admission office or send the same by post with a Demand Draft of INR. 500/- in favor of ‘Coimbatore Institute of Management and Technology’, payable at Coimbatore.

Along with the completed applications, candidates must attach the following documents:

• Academic documents (mark sheets and passing certificates)
• CAT/ TANCET/ UGC-NET Admit Card and Score Card
• Migration Certificate
• Caste Certificate, if applicable
• Annual fee certificate of Parents (For fee-waiver)
