Prashant Sarvi Review at Dalhousie University [DAL], Halifax | Collegedunia

Learn New Technologies at Dalhousie

PS
8.7 /10

I did my own research. I got to know this is one of the colleges where I can apply from my range of marks. But this was the last in my last to go. I have applied to many universities like Waterloo, Alberta. According to my score, I was pretty confident that I would get into a better university for sure. Dalhousie was last in my list, but I got admission here. So I got to know the flavor of competition going on in Canada.

Course Curriculum :

This university is good. It's above average in terms of studies. Standards are pretty high. I am actually satisfied. Here everything is practical, with no theory exams. Study pressure is average, not too high, not too less. The courses they have collected here, its like hitting a bull's eye for a software developer to get a job. They have courses which are hot cakes right now in the market. They have a course for data analytics and data science. Whatever technology is booming right now, they have the course for it. They have customized their course plan according to the market. They have tied up with some companies, who constantly give more importance to Dalhousie students.

Exams :

We require IELTS. GRE is not mandatory. I guess we need a GPA of around 8+ or 7.5+ I had percentage criteria in college, I had 85%. SOPs and LORs are mandatory. Besides SOPs and LORs, a technical interview is required."

Placement :

The top companies are Canadian revenue agency (govt agency), Blackberry, Tulip. We can apply outside to IBM, Amazon, etc.

Internship :

I am in my internship right now, for Canada revenue agency. I am from the batch of 16 months duration.

Fees :

The tuition fee varied each term. the first term it was around C$6500. As the next term started, they increased the fee gradually, it was around C$7500-8500. In my last term, I almost paid C$9000

Faculty :

I would say 2:1. Teaching perspective is 2:1, in general, we have 100 students coming for courses.

Campus Life :

It has so many facilities. We have so many clubs like dance club, ted talk club, and coding community. The gym is superb. The standard of equipment is very high. They maintain it so well. They hire around 1000 members to maintain the entire sports community. 1000 members are from Dalhousie university, students are the ones, who are doing part-time there to maintain the entire sports community.

Hostel :

Living expenditure was close to 40-45 lacs. But this is being covered by scholarship. tuition, academics, everything.
