This course develops business and leadership skills to effectively manage sport organisations. Whether it’s at the elite, semi-elite or recreational levels, sport management at Deakin prepares you to deliver on all strategic dimensions of the industry – in areas such as marketing and promotions, governance and management, facilities and events, as well as participation development.
Sports management is an interdisciplinary field, drawing on aspects of marketing, law, finance and business. A specialized master's degree helps students develop essential skills in business administration, economics, finance, law, psychology and marketing – all with a specific focus on the sports sector.
Sport managers can be found running operations which comprise of the business end of the industry and as such work with colleges, clubs, universities, recreational departments and sports marketing firms for retailing, branding, merchandising, financing, marketing, and operational aspects of the industry.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Admission is based on:
- Bachelor Honours (AQF8) degree in a related discipline, or
- Bachelor degree in a related discipline, plus two years relevant work experience*, or
- Graduate certificate or graduate diploma in a related discipline, or
- Evidence of academic capability judged to be equivalent
English language requirements
- IELTS overall score of 6.5 (with no band score less than 6) or equivalent
- Completed an English language test such as IELTS, Pearson, TOEFL or Cambridge

- Once you accept your offer, you will receive a confirmation of enrolment (CoE).
Before you apply for your student visa, you will need:
- a valid passport
- an electronic confirmation of enrolment (CoE)
- to be able to pay for visa application fees
- Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the length of your course end date on your CoE plus additional 2 months^
- all the documents required of your visa application.
