Deakin India 20% Postgraduate Bursary

Deakin India 20% Postgraduate Bursary is offered to Indian students commencing any postgraduate degree program at Deakin. Awarded on the basis of their academic excellence, recipients get 20% bursary to cover their tuition and other Deakin postgraduate program study-related costs. The tuition discount range from 6,040 AUD to 6,080 AUD.

  • The award is renewable for two years, however, students have to maintain a weighted average of 65%.
  • The bursary will be applied only after the census date for all students irrespective of merit.
  • Applications must be made via Deakin University agent in India.
  • Recipients will have to bear the cost of transportation and accommodation in Australia themselves. 
  • Applicants must have an academic score of 55% to 74.9% in the previous degree.

No Separate applications are to submitted for Deakin India 20% Postgraduate Bursary, as decisions are based on admission applications. Therefore, students must submit their admission application before the upcoming deadline- Trimester 3, 2024

Eligibility Criteria

In order to secure benefits of Deakin India 20% Postgraduate Bursary, applicants have to meet eligibility criteria listed below:

  • Must be an Indian with a valid passport.
  • Must be residing in India when they apply for this scholarship
  • Admission applications should be made through a Deakin agent from India.
  • Obtained an overall score of 55% – 74.99% in the bachelor's program.

Also, If a student has achieved an overall score of 75% in his undergraduate degree, he/she may be eligible for the Deakin India 25% Merit Scholarship.

Please note: this bursary/scholarship (depending on which it is) is only available once you can travel to Australia and commence your studies on-campus. While you are studying online in India (or ‘your home country’ for the South Asia onshore merit scholarship), you may be eligible for the Deakin In-Country 30% Bursary, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.


Application Process

Applicants should be applying through any Deakin Authorised agent-based in INDIA for the scholarship. While applying for the Deakin India 20% Postgraduate Bursary, it’s important to attach all requested supporting documents, otherwise, the application could be delayed or disallowed.

List of required documents are :

  • English Language proficiency proof (IELTS/TOEFL/CPE/CAE/PTE)
  • Certified Academic Transcripts
    • Accompanied by certified English translations
  • Curriculum Vitae (Encouraged but not essential)
  • Personal statement(might be needed)
  • Scholarship applicant ID (if available)


Selection Process

Proper documentation of citizenship, academic transcripts, and award certificates must be provided. Since there is no limitation on the number of students who are awarded this, the documentation and eligibility criteria are strictly followed.

The recipients of Deakin India 20% of Postgraduate Bursary are selected based on the fulfillment of the eligibility criteria set by Deakin University. They will automatically receive a 20% fee reduction to the total tuition fee stated in the admission letter.
