Given our increased understanding of the interactions between genes and experience in brain function, the study of the cells that make up the nervous system is considered one of the greatest frontiers in science today.
The Major in Neurobiology melds Georgetown's historic strength in neuroscience research with the Department of Biology's proven ability to educate undergraduates. The Neurobiology major includes coursework and research in molecular, cellular, developmental, cognitive and behavioral neurobiology.
The Neurobiology major is a research-intensive program. Students will have the opportunity to conduct research during the junior year by enrolling in tutorial research as well as enrolling in the RISE (Research Intensive Senior Experience) during the senior year. This research will give students the experience of conducting research in neurobiology from the molecular and cellular to the behavioral levels.
