Master of Urban Planning at the University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign is offered as a 2-years program by the College of Fine & Applied Arts.

The Department of Urban and Regional Planning offers a graduate program leading to the degree of Master of Urban Planning.
The MUP is a 2-year, professional degree program.
The MUP program is fully accredited by the Planning Accreditation Board.
MUP students work with our faculty who are leading innovative research in planning.
The professionally accredited M.U.P. program prepares students for careers in planning practice.
Such careers involve public service at all levels of government, in private consulting practice, in the nonprofit sector, and in a wide variety of organizations in need of planning services.
The program is purposely flexible so that students may design a program that builds their expertise in a concentration area of practice such as land use and environmental planning, transportation planning, community development for social justice, housing, sustainable design and development, local and regional economic development, and geographic information systems and analysis.
The department also has an active international program designed to expose students to planning practices and challenges in Europe, Africa, Latin America, and Asia.
The Master of Urban Planning program consists of 64 credits.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:

Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in urban planning or equivalent from a recognized institution.
A GPA of at least 3.0/4.0 is required to be eligible for the program.

Indian Student Eligibility:

Students must complete a 4 year Bachelor's Degree with first-class in a relevant field from a highly ranked university in India.
Or, students completed a master's degree with first-class in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
Full Status Admission Minimum GPA Requirements:
- 55%
- 2nd Class Upper
- 8/10

Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.
