Geologists are employed by resource development industries such as petroleum and mining, by federal and state government agencies, and by water and environmental consulting firms. The Geology B.S. Degree prepares students for employment as an entry-level geologic technician or for graduate studies in geology; it is the most flexible and demanding of the B.S. degrees offered by the Geology Department. Students are required to take fundamental and advanced geology courses, as well as two semesters of chemistry, physics, and calculus. The capstone experience for geology majors is a rigorous, outdoor, 6-week field school.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
- Submit official transcripts of all previous education completed
- Official transcripts must be evaluated by an agency like IERF or SpanTran
- Submitting SAT/ACT score is optional but is highly recommended
- Submit English Language Proficiency test scores
English Language Requirements:
- TOEFL: minimum 17 in reading; 17 in writing; 16 in listening and speaking
- IELTS: minimum score of 6.0 with 6.0 in reading, 5.0 in writing, 6.0 in listening and 5.5 in speaking
- PTE: minimum score of 62
