UCF is not just known for being one of the biggest universities in the USA, but also for its affordable UCF courses and University of Central Florida scholarships. Pursuing a UG or PG program at UCF will cost you around 35,000 USD - 40,000 USD, which is a lot economical compared to several other universities in the USA. It is maybe because of its affordability that the international students, on an US student visa, are eligible for limited (yet substantial) University of Central Florida Scholarships.

While overseas students are not offered any federal student aid or specific international scholarships, students are encouraged to complete a “Florida Financial Aid Application”. This way, they will be automatically considered for all the eligible UCF scholarships. Financial aid opportunities through the University of Central Florida scholarships allows students to get various faculty-based scholarships.

The UCF scholarships are available to both incoming and continuing students at the University of Central Florida. To explore the University of Central Florida Scholarships, students can use “Access 2 opportunities”, UCF’s online scholarship application system. By completing this application, students will be considered for all the relevant UCF scholarships.

UCF College and Departmental Scholarships

Presently, there is just one scholarship at University of Central Florida which is available solely to international students: The Student Government Fall International Scholarship. This UCF scholarship is awarded to continuing students.

To be eligible for such University of Central Florida scholarships, international students are required to fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

Based on the eligibility and documents, four recipients will be selected, two each from UG and PG-level. Each Student Government Fall International Scholarship will receive 500 USD.

Furthermore, students are advised to check their UCF A2O portal as there may be few additional scholarship opportunities available after the completion of General Scholarship Application.

UCF International students Receiving Scholarships

Recipients of the University of Central Florida scholarships will receive their scholarship awards at the beginning of the academic year. Prior to disbursement, awards for UCF international students are subject to NRA tax review by UCF global.

Specific IRS forms and immigration documents must be submitted at the beginning of each academic session to UCF Global:

  • Foreign National Information Form
  • IRS Form W-8BEN or W-9
  • Treaty Paperwork (if applicable)

It is significant for all the applicants and recipients to adhere to these norms as failing to do so will result in the rejection of all UCF scholarships.

UCF Curricular Practical Training Scholarship

The Curricular Practical Training (CPT) Scholarship is an internship program designed for the temporary benefit of international students. Students pursuing bachelors and masters program in University of Central Florida, who are academically recommended are required to enroll in a one-credit hour internship course offered via Experiential Learning.

This funding enables UCF Global to cover the tuition associated with enrollment in the one-credit hour Experiential Learning course for students applying for CPT in the Spring 2020 and Summer 2020 semesters. Students must note that this scholarship program is different from other University of Central Florida scholarships.

The CPT internship can be performed either part-time or full-time during Spring, Fall, and Summer terms:

Part-time Full-time
20 hrs per week 21-40 hrs per week
working hrs do not affect OPT Students with 365+ days of FT CPT at same academic level are ineligible for OPT
Students can continue working on-campus up to 20 hrs per week Students can’t work on-campus while on FT CPT

These are the University of Central Florida Scholarships which are available for international students. Seeing the scholarship opportunities, it is suggested that students seeking financial aid must look for scholarships in their home country. For instance, Indian students are applying for scholarship programs like

Nonetheless, remember that the UCF selects recipients for more than 200+ scholarship programs. If your academic grades outstanding and you have a good overall profile, you will receive one or the other University of Central Florida scholarships.

Scholarship

Florida Bright Futures, UCF grant, Think 30 Scholarships helped me in financial part.

Only two hours away from home, has a good CSD program. I had to pay a little fee to apply here, but it wasn't a lot! I also applied USF and gained admission, but ultimately chose UCF! I am very happy with my decision, especially after being here for a year and a half! The CSD program has welcomed me and I feel confident in my ability to thrive here.

I have used loans and it was not great. They offered me a subsidized loan but then changed the amount and did not tell me. So I last minute has to except a subsidized loan and still have to pay it off.

It wasn't too far from home but far enough and was not nearly expensive as a private school. The application fee was not bad and it was my top choice school so I was committed to getting in. I applied to five colleges and got into four. I was a straight-A student in high school but my SAT score was 1160.

Scholarship

Yes, I've got tuition scholarship+health insurance and the teaching assistantship. We have to submit a separate form for both scholarship and teaching assistantship with university application. Selecting process is highly competitive and it's based on our Bachelor's results and GRE, TOEFL results. Also, we have to submit a statement of purpose as well.

I completed a bachelor's degree(mathematics Hons) with a 3.93/4 GPA from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka in 2015. After that, I wanted to get into higher studies because I wanted to secure an academic position in a university. I applied to a few other USA universities including (UCF) and got the admission, tuition scholarship and teaching assistant position from almost all of them. I have heard about those universities through some senior Sri Lankan students who were studying there. The first reason to choose UCF is that I love hot weather and hate snow, so Florida is my best choice. Then as an institution, UCF is the largest University in the USA with great facilities for international students. Communication is really efficient. As an international student, I had to send many emails back and forth and got replies very fast. Since I got quick replies it was easy to deal with the visa process in advance. Also compared to other USA institutions application fee is cheaper.

I chose the University of Central Florida mostly out of convenience. The school has a direct connect program that made it easy to transfer my Valencia credits to the state school. I also live in the area.

My major is only available at this school. This school was in my state, so in-state tuition was available to me. I notice my school has ROTC, which I've always wanted to join. This school has a great football team.

I applied for financial aid through the school and through FAFSA. During the semester, the university sends out a document of the financial aid I received and I am able to accept or decline the rewards.

I chose this college because it is one of the biggest colleges in the nation. I believe that due to the size, there are more opportunities that lie within the classrooms and there is more diversity among the students.

Yes. I have scholarships as well as financial aid if it was for this I wouldn't be able to really go to school so far away from home. You just fill out your FAFSA form every year and you get money based on your parent's tax brackets etc.

Because of it's amazing, modern, technologically advanced. It's also a pretty decent cost price for credits and for the experience you get. The services and free things this school offers are abundant. They love their students.

I opted for UCF because of the proximity to my house. I can commute every day so I don't have to pay for housing. I also have seen and heard great things about the university's business program. I also wanted to love at home but attend a university, not a community college.

They offered me a small scholarship, which allowed me to move on campus and stay somewhat close to home while studying my major of choice (aerospace engineering), which was not available at most other universities I looked at.

I just get financial aid from the government and state scholarships. Not much effort on my end of the stick.

In-state tuition. Not super far from home but far enough where I won't have to visit my parents every weekend or even every month. They're decently accredited in all majors and have a huge student body.
