Students who major in sociology choose one of three emphases - criminology, general sociology, or inequalities and globalization. Earning a degree in sociology will help you prepare for your career in a variety of fields like law, non-profit management, local and federal policing, social services, environmental policy, social research and human resources.

In this program, you will develop your ?social imagination? and study the social dynamics that influence our experiences, behaviors and opportunities. You will explore topics like race, social class, gender, globalization, crime, social mobility and the environment.

Research is a key component of this field. As a sociology major, you will learn to interpret statistics, write reports, and design and conduct studies using various research tools and methods.
