Students successfully completing the programme delivered by Saint Peter's University will be granted a Bachelor of Science degree jointly by UMDNJ and Saint Peter’s University.
The Health Information Management Program prepares graduates to take a leading role in the management of patient information collected and maintained in electronic and manual processes. Roles in HIM are expansive and include management, medical coding, data analysis and computerized system development and maintenance. Students who successfully complete the four-year program are granted a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Information Management jointly by Rutgers University and Saint Peter’s University.
The Program involves eight traditional semesters in total: four semesters plus two summer sessions of coursework offered at Saint Peter's, and four semesters plus one summer session offered at the Rutgers campus during the Professional Phase of the Program.
The goals of the HIM Program are to:
- Prepare graduates to become competent Registered Health Information Administrators for employment in all types of health care facilities.
- Prepare graduates to meet the needs of the communities of interest.
- Provide students with a balanced curriculum in liberal arts and professional courses.
- Actively recruit students into the health information profession.
- Enhance faculty development and encourage professional growth.
- Meet the undergraduate student outcomes of the School of Health Related Professions.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
- Submit official transcripts of high school and other education completed
- Official transcripts must contain course by course evaluation and should be evaluated by a NACES accredited agency
- Submit a personal statement or essay
- Submit official SAT/ACT score or test optional essay
- Submit two letters of recommendation: school counselor form and teacher recommendation
- Submit English Language Proficiency test scores
English Language Requirements:
- TOEFL: minimum 79 in ibt;
- IELTS: minimum 6.5
- PTE: minimum 53
