Substantial work experience in the hospitality industry is required for hospitality business majors. Each student must complete 800 hours of work experience (400 hours in a Level I Internship and 400 hours in a Level II Internship). The internships must have the prior approval of the Student and Industry Resource Center Director.
Students who are enrolled in the bachelor’s degree program in The School of Hospitality Business may elect the Minor in Hospitality Business Real Estate and Development.
Students who are enrolled in the bachelor’s degree program in The School of Hospitality Business may elect the Minor in Food Processing and Technology.
The vision of The School of Hospitality Business is to be the recognized leader in hospitality business education, research and service. The School of Hospitality Business was established in 1927, and in 1944 became the first hospitality program to be housed in a collegiate school of business.
As part of a larger service economy, the hospitality industry offers a wide range of career possibilities. Individuals who combine their college education with their work experience to advance their careers will lead and shape the hospitality industry in the future.
Careers in the hospitality industry are exciting, fast-paced, and varied. The School of Hospitality Business prepares students to enter management positions in lodging, food service, consulting, event planning, human resources, information systems, marketing, real estate investment management, and sales. Hospitality Business graduates find opportunities in venues such as hotels, restaurants, resorts, casinos, cruise lines, clubs as well as in sports and entertainment.
Because of its industry-specific status within the Broad College of Business, The School of Hospitality Business curriculum is driven by the hospitality industry and is delivered by faculty leaders who teach the discipline and also conduct research. The curriculum emphasizes managerial leadership, and is designed to develop theoretical and technical knowledge as well as techniques of leadership. Our graduates are equipped to face the challenges in this industry, which include operations, finance, accounting, marketing, human resources, information systems, law, production, and facilities.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- A Candidate needed to provide Senior School Certificate or School certificate awarded after standard XII.
- English and Maths (advanced or academic level) are required in grade 12.
- Two Science 12grade level is required.
- One Additional 12 grade course (advanced or academic level) is needed.
Indian Student Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they have any one of the following certificates:
- All-India Senior School Certificate (AISSCE)
- Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC)
- Indian School Certificate (ISC)
- Intermediate Examination Certificate
- Pre-University Examination Certificate
- Students must have a Grade XII chemistry or Grade XII physics.
- Students also hold Grade XII math (Minimum math result of 55%).
English Language proficiency:
- Applicants from India, China, Vietnam, Philippines, and Pakistan should note that IELTS is the only proficiency score accepted by the Study Direct Stream (SDS) program.
- Meeting the minimum English requirements does not guarantee admission. Students with higher English proficiency scores will receive priority in the admission assessment process.
- Not all students will qualify for EAP-3106 in place of the required IELTS or TOEFL test scores.
