Bachelor of Science [B.S] (Finance Economics)
Field of Study:
$46,870/Yr
The program is designed to cover both generic skills, such as critical thinking, presentation formats, and spreadsheet analysis, and foundational finance theory. You integrate practical cases on real companies with theoretical instruction in the classroom to develop a framework for problem solving that will serve you well as you transition from externships to internships to your desired career. Your courses cover topics in corporate finance, investments, economics, and accounting.
The finance field is an integral part of the Department of Economics at Ohio Wesleyan, not isolated in a separate business school. The Finance Economics major blends a strong core of economics courses with advanced coursework in finance. Graduates may take either a corporate finance route or an investment finance route. Those opting for an M.B.A. usually plan on two to three years of work experience before attending graduate school.
The Finance Economics major has been officially recognized by the CFA Institute, which awards this designation after verifying that at least 70 percent of the CFA Level I curriculum is covered in courses for the major. Top students interested in attaining their charter as a Chartered Financial Analyst may take the Level I exam in the spring of their senior year. Scholarships are available.
