Materials scientists and engineers are experts in the performance, specification and manufacture of metals, ceramics, semiconductors, plastics and composites. They must have broad knowledge of a variety of scientific and engineering fields to be competitive.
The MSE program enjoys an international reputation and places its graduates in every facet of industry and academia. Students in MSE may focus on ceramics, metallurgy, biomaterials, polymers, electronic materials and manufacturing.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Acamedic Requirements:
- High school or secondary school official transcripts of the final four years (9 to 12) should be sent to Ohio State
- SAT or ACT scores should be submitted (Optional for 2023 admissions)
- Recommendation from a teacher or counsellor (optional)
English Language Requirements:
- TOEFL (IBT): minimum 79 required
- IELTS or IELTS indicator: minimum 6.5 required
- ACT: minimum 21 score on the English section
- SAT: minimum 27 required on the reading section
- Duolingo: minimum 105 required
