- The M.S. program emphasizes new scientific research in addition to fundamental coursework.
- A degree candidate must complete a minimum of 30 credit hours including 24 hours of graduate level coursework. One course from each of the four core areas of the department (ecology, hydrology, geosciences, and atmospheric sciences) is required
- The Ph.D. program degree emphasizes original research and independent study. The degree candidate is required to complete the four core-area courses as for the M.S., one additional 700-level course and a minimum of 54 credit hours including thesis research.
- Thesis committees are usually interdisciplinary and are composed according to the type of research to be conducted. Ph.D. candidates must pass a written and oral comprehensive examination administered by their dissertation committee within four semesters of entering the program.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academics:
- A bachelor`s degree from a recognized institute or equivalent
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
Indian Student Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria:
- Students must complete a 4-year undergraduate degree with first class in a relevant field from a recognized institution
- Or, students completed a master's degree with first-class in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.

- Fees – A non-refundable fee of $85 is due at the time the application is submitted.
Career and Placement after Course
Most Environmental Sciences majors concentrate their program in one or two disciplines with future study in professional or graduate programs in mind. Others use the breadth and interdisciplinary nature of the curriculum to prepare for careers in science writing and methods, in teaching, or in environmental management and other similar careers. - Geosciences: Coastal processes consulting, engineering geology, land use planning and management, groundwater pollution research and consulting, sedimentary process modeling.
- Ecology: Aquatic ecology and fisheries consulting, forestry and agricultural management, park and recreation planning and management, resource conservation, toxic soil and water pollution research.
- Hydrology: Groundwater management, flood and surface water management and consulting, water pollution research and regulation, water project economics, hydraulic modeling and analysis.
