Attention is paid to the ways in which cultural assumptions shape our communication and how communication produces, modifies and challenges culture. Students will develop skills for interpreting and analyzing cultural texts and practices in diverse settings and will explore the creation, dissemination and reception of cultural products and practices. Students will develop strong skills in information analysis and writing suited to community outreach, research, government and non-profit careers. The Communication and Culture concentration also provides a strong background for students interested in continuing on to graduate studies.
