Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:

  • Students must have a bachelor's degree or recognized equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • A bachelor's degree in accounting from an institution accredited by AACSB received within the five-year period immediately preceding the desired term of enrollment (or a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a regionally accredited institution) with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and minimum of B in all accounting courses
  • All students must submit results from either the GMATGRE, or EA.

English Language proficiency:

Students who received their degrees outside of the U.S. are required to demonstrate English Language Proficiency. To satisfy the University English Language Proficiency requirement, students must:

  • Have a basic degree from a recognized institution in a country where the official language is English.
  • Or, have completed a basic or advanced degree at an institution, in the U.S or abroad, where the language of instruction is English and the institution is accredited by one of the United States regional accrediting agencies.

Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.

  • GMAT is waived for UAB accounting graduates and other students who take all of the foundation accounting courses at the undergraduate level at UAB and meet the minimum GPA requirements listed above
  • GMAT waiver for applicants meeting one of the following:
    • An applicant with an undergraduate accounting degree from an AACSB accredited institution and meet the above GPA and grade requirements
    • Applicant completing the bridge program at UAB
    • The applicant with an advanced degree in a business-related field (e.g. MBA) from an AACSB accredited institution
    • The applicant has a terminal degree in another discipline
    • The applicant has a professional accounting certification (CPA or equivalent) which requires continuing professional education
    • The applicant has significant (3-5 years) experience at the executive level

The students who wish to study in the USA at the University of California Berkeley require L1 and H1B. Because the Berkeley MBA for Executives Program is a part-time program, universities are unable to assist with student visas. Typically, the students work with their employers to assist with a visa. The common visa types that students use are L1 and H1B. University can not issue an F-1 student visa for this program.

Work-Study

The Work-Study Program encourages students to seek part-time employment while they are enrolled in school. The program provides students access to work with the schedule flexibility they need so they can have a healthy balance between school commitments and their work obligations.

  • If students with an F-1 status and hold an I-20 from UC Berkeley Extension, they are eligible to work on the UC Berkeley campus up to 20 hours per week when school is in session and full-time during school breaks.
  • The student can only be in one work-study job at a time.
  • The wages range can be from minimum wage to upwards of $20-plus/hour
  •  F-1 students with UC Berkeley-issued I-20s may work on-campus without any extra authorization while they are fully-enrolled students with valid, unexpired I-20s.
  • J-1 students must obtain written approval from their program sponsor (BIO) before beginning any type of on-campus employment.
