Since its inception, the program has been the major of choice for many students who have gone on in the health professions to become medical doctors, optometrists, chiropractors, dentists, nurses, physical therapists, and many other professionals. Because the major is very flexible, it has also been useful for students interested in a variety of other careers such as elementary school teaching, patent law, and technical writing and as a second major for many in the social sciences and humanities.?
Students may sharpen their focus by completing additional courses in the sciences.? Students seeking careers in the health professions should continue their focus in biology and chemistry.? Biochemistry, genetics, microbiology, cell biology, metabolism, immunology, and organic chemistry are among the suggested courses.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
- Submit official transcripts of secondary school and all previous education completed
- Official transcripts must contain course by course evaluation and should be evaluated by a NACES accredited agency
- Submit a school report with official school recommendation from a counselor, teacher etc
- Submit a teacher recommendation from a core subject teacher
- Submitting SAT/ACT score is optional
- Students with test optional policy must complete an interview
- Submit English Language Proficiency test scores
English Language Requirements:
- TOEFL: minimum 80 in ibt; 550 in PBT
- IELTS: minimum 6.5
- Duolingo: minimum 105
