This is accomplished in an active learning environment that incorporates technology and emphasizes the importance of good technical communications skills, including reading, writing and speaking. An additional objective is to prepare students for graduate school and careers in education, industry and government.
The Muhlenberg mathematics and computer science department includes the disciplines of pure mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics and computer science. The courses offered are structured to meet the overlapping needs of students who fall into one or more of these categories:
- Those who wish to develop their appreciation of the power and beauty of mathematics
- Those who intend to pursue graduate work in mathematics, computer science or other related fields
- Those whose interests will exploit the applications of mathematics or computers in the natural sciences, social sciences and other areas of quantitative studies
- Those who plan to enter the teaching profession in mathematics or computer science
The curriculum is designed so that a student's course of study can be custom fitted to that individual's goals and interests, while at the same time exposing the student to several of the facets of mathematics and computer science.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
- Submit official transcripts of secondary school and all previous education completed
- Official transcripts must contain course by course evaluation and should be evaluated by a NACES accredited agency
- Submit a school report with official school recommendation from a counselor, teacher etc
- Submit a teacher recommendation from a core subject teacher
- Submitting SAT/ACT score is optional
- Students with test optional policy must complete an interview
- Submit English Language Proficiency test scores
English Language Requirements:
- TOEFL: minimum 80 in ibt; 550 in PBT
- IELTS: minimum 6.5
- Duolingo: minimum 105
