These concentrations prepare students to graduate with the knowledge, skill, and experience that are in high demand among some of the most selective employers and graduate programs in the country.
All concentrations of study are supported by the School's nationally-renowned internship program. Our internship program gives students valuable field experience throughout the Hudson River Valley Region and in New York City with world leaders in communication, news media, advertising, public relations, sports, publishing, television, and other industries.
The Advertising course of study with a creative emphasis prepares students to conceptualize, create, and produce advertising for all media. There is actual hands-on experience with creating and producing advertising for newspaper, magazines, transit, TV, radio, and the Internet. Students have frequent contact with the advertising community locally and in New York City by way of agency visits, guest speakers, and internships. Advertising students are encouraged to enter national advertising competitions. At the end of this program, the student will have a portfolio of sample advertising work to show prospective employers.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
- Submit official transcripts of high school or secondary school and other universities attended
- Submitting SAT/ACT score is optional for the students
- Applicants should have completed the following courses: 4 years of English; 3 years of Science; 3 years of Maths; 3 years of History/Social Science; 2 years of foreign language
- Submit one counselor letter of recommendation and teacher letter of recommendation is optional
- Submit a personal essay about yourself and your goals
- Submit English Language Proficiency test scores
English Language Requirements:
- TOEFL: minimum 550 in PBT; 213 in CBT; 80 in IBT
- IELTS: minimum 6.5
- Duolingo: minimum 115
