The French program offered by the Mercyhurst University trains students which end up being highly sought-after by area school districts. However, 45 states have signed teacher certification reciprocity agreements with Pennsylvania so language education graduates can teach all over the US.
Language education majors may also add a certification in English as a Second Language to their program, to enhance their employment options, with only three additional courses.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
- Submit official transcripts of high school and other educational institution attended
- Official transcripts must be evaluated by an accredition agency like WES, SpanTran or ECE
- Submit a recommendation letter
- Submit a writing sample
- Submitting SAT/ACT score is optional
- Submit English Language Proficiency test scores
English Language Requirements:
- TOEFL: minimum score of 79 in iBT; 8.5+ in Essentials
- IELTS: minimum score of 6.5
- PTE: minimum score of 85
- Duolingo: minimum score of 100
