In consultation with a theater faculty advisor, a student chooses a program of study composed of Theater 120 and Theater 121 (Practicum), 1/4 credit courses taken four times, and at least eight other courses, including Theater 107 (Introduction to Theater), Theater 207 (Theater History); two courses in fundamental theater skills chosen from Theater 108, 130, 221, 230, 235, 290, and 291, English 250 [when offered with a theater emphasis], English 260 or 280, Music 271-79 [when offered with a theater or performance emphasis], and Philosophy 240; one advanced level dramatic literature course from among English 301, 339, 345, 346, French 322, and other 300-level courses when offered with a dramatic literature emphasis, including English 344, Classics 351, English 369, Theater 370, and Theater 371; two advanced level theater courses chosen from Theater 312, 314, 330, 335, 369, 370, 371, 372, 373, 390, and 391; and Theater 400 (Senior Project), which may be replaced by Theater 495-96 (Honors Thesis in Theater).? The advisor will authorize courses when they are offered with a theater or performance emphasis, and encourage students to work with mentors through independent study and internships. However, no more than one semester of internship may be included in the major.
