Program Mission
The liberal arts are traditionally recognized as the heart of a college education, providing information and skills that help people understand and analyze their world. In light of this traditional value of the liberal arts, the mission of the Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts Program at Fisher College is to provide courses for the Liberal Students in the Boston Public GardenArts major that engender a well-rounded student able to continue to even higher-level study or to begin a career.
Program Learning Outcomes
This program will provide students with the opportunity to develop the following competencies:
- Clearly express ideas orally and in writing.
- Analyze data quantitatively and qualitatively and draw accurate inferences.
- Conduct research demonstrating information literacy.
- Demonstrate sufficient computer skills for success in college and employment.
- Produce effective research papers and presentations.
- Demonstrate an understanding of and appreciation of multicultural, including global, perspectives.
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of history and that discipline?s approaches to organizing knowledge.
- Demonstrate at least an elementary knowledge of and ability to use a language other than English.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the methods of inquiry and analysis both within and among traditional liberal arts and sciences disciplines (humanities, natural sciences, social sciences).
- Appropriately apply skills and knowledge from the classroom to an internship experience.
