The NorthCap University offers both full time and part-time PhD programs in 23 specializations with a minimum duration of 3 years to a maximum duration of 6 years. The admission to PhD Program takes place twice a year, in June – July and November and December.
The admission for PhD Programs is done based on NPET/ GATE/ JRF/ SLET and UGC – NET scored with minimum weightage of 50% and 30% in qualifying degree. - Candidates who do not have a valid score in national tests like GATE, UGC-NET and SLET will have to appear in the university’s NPET and will have the following weightage: NPET marks – 50%, Qualifying degree marks – 30%, and Interview –20%

Eligibility Criteria for Foreign National, NRI, OCI Applicants and Part-Time Candidates:
Foreign National, NRI, OCI Applicants: Candidate must have a Master’s degree from a foreign university along with an equivalence certificate of AIU.
For Part-Time Candidates: Candidate must submit ‘No Objective Certificate’ on a papyrus from a capable authority clearly expressing that the candidate is allowed to pursue PhD on part-time mode.

NCU PhD Admission Criteria
The admission criteria for Doctor of Philosophy is done based on marks scored in Entrance Test GATE, JRF, SLET, NET with minimum weightage of numerous components –
- National Level Entrance Test – 50%
- Qualifying Degree Marks – 30% and,
- Personal Interview – 20%
That candidate who doesn’t have reasonable marks in entrance test like GATE, UGC –NET and SLET will have to give NCU PhD Entrance Test known as NPET and will have to score at least 50%.
NCU PhD Entrance Exam
- The Entrance Test NPET is a 2 hours duration objective type test held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on the given date by the university.
- The NPET is managed by the Controller of Examination at NCU University Campus.
- Other information regarding room number shall be informed through the mail and after the entrance test, the personal interview will take place on the same day from 1:00 PM onwards.
