Admission to National Institutes of Technology (NITs) is based on the JEE Main merit list, without the need for interviews or group discussions. For general category students, eligibility requires a 75% minimum in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in CBSE exams. The Joint Seat Allocation Authority conducts counseling in up to nine rounds. A JEE Main score of around 200 and a board score of 90+ can secure admission. NIT Durgapur’s faculty is highly qualified, with many holding degrees from IITs and foreign institutions, maintaining a faculty-to-student ratio of about 1:4.
The curriculum supports competitive exams like GATE with a strict 75% attendance requirement. The fee is approximately 2.8 lakhs over four years, excluding additional charges like 2000 per semester for mess fees.
