Course Details
IIT Roorkee MDes admission 2024 are based on CEED Exam score. The admission process of MDes admission will start in June 2024. The Master of Design program at IIT Roorkee is aimed at providing an engaging environment to foster creativity and skills through an interdisciplinary process of teaching and training. The students will be exposed to the fundamentals of design and prototyping, Design thinking, Product-human interface, Materials and manufacturing, Design methods, Visual design, Form studies, Computer-aided design, and Design for sustainability.

IIT Roorkee MDes Eligibility Criteria
IIT Roorkee M.Des Eligibility Criteria are as follows:
- Candidates belonging to the General, GEN-EWS, and OBC categories must have secured at least 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.00 on a 10-point scale at the qualifying degree level.
- Candidates belonging to SC/ST/PD category must have secured 55% or 5.50 CGPA on a 10-point scale.
- The marks awarded for the qualifying degree will be considered for eligibility.
- Any candidate who has completed a four-year graduate degree in any discipline with Mathematics as one of the subjects in 10+2 with a valid CEED/GATE score.
IIT Roorkee M.Des Eligibility Criteria for Sponsored Candidates
IIT Roorkee M.Des Eligibility Criteria for Sponsored candidates are as follows:
- Any candidate who has completed a four-year graduate degree in any discipline with Mathematics as one of the subjects in 10+2 with two years full-time work experience till the last date of submission of application form in a responsible capacity in a *Registered Firm/ Company/ Industry/ Educational and Research Institution/ Govt./ Quasi Govt./Autonomous Organization in the relevant field in which admission is being sought.
- *The Firm/Company/Industry shall either be a public sector undertaking or a public limited undertaking registered in a stock exchange or a private concern whose annual turnover during the past 2 years exceeds Rs. 5.0 crores. For a candidate employed in an educational Institution, it should be recognized by AICTE.
IIT Roorkee M.Des Application Form
The candidates must follow the following steps while applying online:
- Go to the official website of the Institute.
- Apply Online
- Registration
- Complete the Application Form
- Pay the fee online using the option “Proceed for Payment”
- Download Application Form (Take a printout of the entire file. This printout is NOT to be sent to IIT Roorkee. It is only for the candidate's own record purpose)
- The application sequence number generated on the downloaded application form will be used in all correspondence in the future.

The following Documents are Required to upload for Admission to MDes Program at IIITDM.

- 12th/Diploma Certificate
- Bachelor's Degree and all mark sheets or consolidated mark sheets (Candidates appearing in the qualifying degree examination can upload the marksheetupto pre-final semester/year).
- Certificates in respect of work experience, if applicable.
- SC/ST/OBC/GEN-EWS/PD Certificate, as applicable.
- Sponsorship & No Objection Certificate (Applicable for Sponsored candidates only).
- Certificate of first rank / Gold medal issued by the Institute/ University (Applicable only for Golden Girl Scheme for females).

IIT Roorkee M.Des Selection Procedure
- A certain number of candidates shall be called for Aptitude tests and Personal interviews.
- Based on the aggregate performance, a merit list shall be drawn for offering provisional admission to the Program. Provisional admission offers shall be sent by email at the mailing address given in the application form.
- A system of registration is followed for all the students joining the Institute. The selected candidates will have to register themselves online on the date and time to be intimated to them. After online registration, they are required to report physically for document verification on July 14, 2023, at IIT Roorkee.\
- The Institute reserves the right to cancel, at any stage, the admission of a candidate admitted to a program and is later found that he/she is not entitled, being unqualified or ineligible in accordance with the Regulations in vogue, or suspension/termination of the program.
IIT Roorkee M.Des Important Instruction
- The candidates are advised to read each and every instruction given in this Information Brochure very carefully before applying Online.
- All entries should be carefully made while applying online. IIT Roorkee will not be responsible for wrong entries. Candidates shall be solely responsible for the eligibility, correctness, and authenticity of the information/documents provided in the online application.
- Online applications submitted by the candidates shall be considered final and binding. Requests for making corrections/modifications/changes in the online application shall not be entertained.
FAQs
Ques.If a Candidate is yet to write his/her final year exam, can he/she still apply for the Program?
Ans. Students having a valid CEED score may apply for the program but must submit all requisite documents (Provisional Degree Certificate in case Degree Certificate is not yet issued) during the document verification process.
Ques.Can a Candidate Have B.Arch/ B.Des degree, be eligible for this program?
Ans. Yes. Students from diverse backgrounds with a valid CEED score and who have a lair for Design Centric Engineering are encouraged to apply.
Ques.What is the duration of the MHRD stipend?
Ans. The MHRD Stipend of INR 12,400/- pm is provided for candidates who secure admission at SIDI through a CEED score. It is provided for a maximum duration of 24 months subject to fulfillment of the following criteria.
Ques.What is the Fee Refund Policy of IIT Roorkee?
Ans. No refund of fees will be permissible to the students who get registered for the Program but do not join subsequently or who leave the Program after joining. In such cases, only security and mess balances will be refunded.
Ques.What Other Courses Does IIT Roorkee Offer than M.Des Course?
Ans. IIT Roorkee offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. programs in engineering, sciences, management, and humanities.
Ques.Does IIT Roorkee offer any direct admission to Girls?
Ans. Yes, IIT Roorkee offers Direct admission for female candidates under the “Golden Girl Scheme”. For this Scheme, The requirement of qualifying for an All-India Level Exam shall be EXEMPTED. However, all other MEQs will be applicable as per the institute's policy.
