IIT Roorkee offers comprehensive hostel facilities with a total of 13 hostels: 10 for boys, 2 for girls, and 1 co-ed hostel. Rooms are available in both shared and single occupancy, with single rooms provided from the second year onward. Each room is equipped with basic furnishings such as a bed, study table, chair, and LAN connectivity. The hostels are equipped with various amenities, including gyms, reading rooms, game rooms, canteens, and 24-hour canteen services.

The campus provides high-speed Wi-Fi and LAN connections for students. The mess food is generally considered adequate with a rotating weekly menu. Breakfast typically includes items like bread, butter, jam, eggs, and a main dish such as poha or parathas. Lunch and dinner offer a variety of dishes including vegetables, daal, rice, and chapati, with non-vegetarian options available twice a week. The hostel and mess charges are approximately INR 27,000 per semester, making them quite affordable.

Despite some hostels being older, they are well-maintained, and new hostels are under construction to improve facilities further.
