TANUVAS: 6 Answered Questions

I read in some posts that IVRI is not good enough for UG for the best skills, but it is good for PG and research only. They said that TANUVAS, GB Pant, GADVASU, etc. are good UG. Is it true?

Preet RoyB.V.Sc & A.H from Indian Veterinary Research Institute (2024)

If talking about IVRI, then there are over 240 scientists conducting research work in different fields. Here are some important facts that you may find useful:

  • If these are the same candidates, pursuing several research projects and academic activities in the PG course, then they also do the same for UG courses as well.
  • Mainly, the reason behind this is the clinic was extended and also offered several amenities when the UG courses were first introduced in IVRI.
  • The infrastructure of IVRI is well established.
  • One of my friends, who belonged from the Physiology department once mentioned having access to over 17 microscopes for a student limit of around 24.
  • The fee program of IVRI is minimal, with the provision of a variety of scholarship options.
  • The hostels, library, and mess are equally satisfactory.
  • There are no strict restrictions imposed upon students.
  • During your stay, you will be part of having a great exposure, while still greatly having access to each lab and scientists conducting research works.
  • Every batch has maintained the legacy of the institute by evidently showcasing better results each time.
  • There are several students who secured good scores in the JRF exams, while a few students obtained seats in IVRI again through AIQ ICAR.
  • One of the seniors has recently also established a successful startup after acquiring a grant of 30 lacs from IVRI itself.
  • There are students who also recently qualified for the Rajasthan VO examination by both securing high scores in the written test and exams other than that.
  • Along the lines, some of the seniors are also using Agribusiness with a salary of almost INR 50,000 per month.

It is one of the best institutes to pursue a UG course likewise. Thus, make an informed decision after analyzing every detail.

How should a non-Tamil Nadu candidate apply at TANUVAS Chennai?

Shanu GuptaStudies at TANUVAS (2020)

You can apply for TANUVAS through the all-India quota (AIQ), which accounts for 15% of total seats. You must take the NEET test for this, and you can get admission through the all-India quota based on your NEET score.

There are a total of 12 AIQ seats available in each of TANUVAS' colleges. So, after the declaration of the NEET 2021 result, you must attend counseling organized by VCI (Veterinary Council of India).

For more updates and information, you must visit the VCI website daily after the declaration of NEET 2021 result.

How much should I score in the class 12 board exams to get admission in TANUVAS? I am from Tamil Nadu only.

Riddhi SenStudies at TANUVAS (2024)

The marks are considered depending upon the cut-off set for the individual year. Since the cut-off varies from one year to another, it is slightly difficult to put on a perspective without acknowledging the same.

  • As per the cut-off based in the year 2019, subjects like Physics, Chemistry, and Biology are considered for shortlisting purposes.
  • Apparently, the cut-off is evaluated on the basis of the following method, Biology + (Physics + Chemistry)
  • The total marks are 200 and if anyone scores more than 193 in the exam, then they can easily secure admission at the institute.
  • If you belong to the open category and secure marks above 95 in every subject, then you can unquestionably grab a seat in the open category.

It is best that you research thoroughly about the cut-off applicable for this year and decide whether or not it goes in your favor.

My native place is Tamil Nadu and I have registered NEET under the Tamil Nadu State quota but I did my schooling and boards in Kerala(CBSE). What should I do to get admission in TANUVAS for BVSc?

Bidita GhoseLives in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India

State quota seats in government veterinary colleges are much higher (85%) than All India quota seats (15%). So as visible, getting in through state quota is much easier.

The government veterinary colleges of Tamil Nadu fill state quota seats through 12th merit, and All India quota seats through NEET scores. Regardless of which state you received your schooling in, if your parents belong to the state of Tamil Nadu, you can get the certificate of Tamil Nadu and apply for TANUVAS through state quota.

Which is better for food technology TNAU or TANUVAS?

Niyati PathakM.Tech Food Technology & Biotechnology,Anna University,Tamil Nadu

Both TNAU and TANUVAS are relatively similar institutions because they are state-run universities. There is no major difference between the two universities in terms of their infrastructure and faculty members.

However, when compared on higher levels, then TNAU can be considered slightly better than TANUVAS, regardless of their resemblance in academic profiles.

Categories Food Technology at TNAU
Course Fee 4.64 lakhs
Course Duration 4 years
Average CTC 10-12 LPA
Recruiting Companies Cadbury, ITC, Yara, Zifo Technologies, etc.

Having said that, it is always a better idea to try for other institutes like CFTRI, IIFPT, or NIFTEM for receiving better exposure, alongside a greater knowledge base.

Which college is better for food technology, Tanuvas or Kongu Engineering College, Erode?

Kushal TondonB.Tech from Sharda University

Kongu Engineering College is better than TANUVAS for Food Technology. It is the best in terms of experience, faculty, lab facilities, and environment, among other things. TANUVAS is great for animal research but not for food technology.

Kongu Engineering College has many labs with high-quality equipment, placements with good professors, and many facilities to meet your needs. It has cutting-edge equipment like a Freeze dryer, Microwave, and Infrared dryers, Spray dryers, and HPLC.
