Punjab Technical University (PTU) is a State Government University later renamed as I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University in memory & honor of Former Prime Minister of India, Inder kumar Gujral. IKG-PTU is affiliated with UGC, AICTE, NAAC, PCI & AIU. PTU M.Tech Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates must have secured at least 50% Aggregate in B.E/ BTech to get admission in M.Tech course.
  • Applicants must qualify the GATE examination to get the merit-based score. 
  • 85% of the seats are reserved for the Resident candidates of Punjab & 15% reservation for outsiders with valid GATE scores.

PTU M.Tech Admission Criteria

Selection of candidates for M.Tech courses is done on the basis of Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)/CET conducted by the University. 

The merit list will be prepared based on candidates marks in the entrance examination. Candidates who clear the cut-off score will be called for the admission process. Counselling will be conducted by the University and Candidates who clear the cut-off score will be called to complete the admission process.

Application Process

Admission application form will be released online on the official website of PTU.

Filling of Counselling Form

  • The students are required to get registered by filling the required details (Personal & qualifying details) and choosing the course in online application cum counselling form. Candidates make the fee payment in both, Online & offline mode.
  • The confirmation message for the fee payment will be received by the candidate on respective email id and phone number.
  • An OTP will be generated which is supposed to be submitted by the candidate. A log in ID & password will be created which will be sent to registered Email ID.

Filling of Application form

  • After the payment of the counselling fee, candidates are required to Log in with the ID & password where they are supposed to fill in the required details of academic & personal information with scanned photographs.

Filling of choices

  • After Filling the application form, candidates are required to fill the choices of desired institutes & courses. The candidates are required to fill in the maximum number of choices to increase the chances of final selection.

NOTE: Only If the candidates will be shortlisted in the merit list, they will be called. The selected applicants are required to report at the college allotted for verification of given documents. The previous years cut off rank has been till average 150-200 score overall.

  • The duration of the M.Tech course is 2 years which is divided into 4 semesters.
  • Total mark count of M.Tech program is 1800 & Total Credit Points are 68.
  • Students will be tested on the basis of theory plus practical advanced computing knowledge
  • 75% is the minimum attendance required for the M.Tech Course.
