Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) is a university in Rourkela, Odisha. It offers multiple courses in the field of technology. M. tech is a 2 year long course spread across 4 semesters.
The course is offered in five specializations. They are Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Civil Engineering.
Engineering is a very competitive stream. It requires a rigorous effort by the students and claiming a seat is not very easy. To be eligible for a seat in M. Tech in BPUT, the applicants must have a minimum of 55% in B.Tech with relevant specialization.
Admissions to the course are entrance based followed by counseling process.

BPUT M.Tech Eligibility Criteria
- The Applicants must have completed B. Tech with a minimum aggregate of 55% with relevant specialization.
- The applicants must have given ODJEE or GATE.
BPUT M.Tech Admission Guidelines
To get admission to the M.Tech program, candidates must have a valid GATE score.
The admissions are conducted via a centralised counselling process. The conducting body of these admissions is done by OJEE.
How to Apply?
- The applicants first have to register themselves on the website.
- A Counselling Fee of Rs.450/- Deposit is to be paid online.
- The next step is Choice Filling where the applicants are to fill out their college of choice in order of preference.
- A Mock Allotment will then take place to give the students an idea of their merit and the colleges they choose.
- The candidate will then have to lock their choices using a password. (Care should be taken before locking the choices, once locked; no alteration in choice is possible under any circumstances).
- This will be followed by Temporary Allotment-I. If the students want the college they can choose to freeze the seat or continue with the next temporary allotment.
- Three rounds of temporary allotment will take place. The applicants who wish to freeze their seta will have to upload their documents asked by the colleges.
- Allotted students will then have to deposit university Regd fee of Rs.10000 for general candidates or 5000/- for SC/ST/PC candidates via an online portal through BILLDESK / SBI / HDFC payment gateway.
- A Final Allotment will then take place.
- Finally, students have to download a final allotment letter and report to the allotted colleges when asked.
