Hostel Facilities:

1. The hostel are below average, the boys are girls hostels are separate and even the mess is separate and no girl can enter boys hostel and vice versa. 2. There are 2 hostels, one for boys and one for girls each has 14 floors. 3. There are 14 floors and each floor has 3 flats, and in each flat there are 4 rooms and 3 bathrooms, 2 in one flat and on room has double occupancy, there is no option of single or triple occupancy. 4. The hostel allocation is on first come first serve basis only. 5. The hostel fees is 2,80,000 with 10,000 security deposit for 10 months. There is no further breakup provided. Breakfast snacks and dinner are provided in hostel but lunch is provided in college campus on weekdays. Also they don’t provide with snacks and dinner on sunday. 6. The food quality is usually bad but they sometimes provide with decent food and the menu changes every week. 7. The hostels are well guarded, they have 2 guards at each gate and the whole premise is under cctv. 8. The hostel also provide bus services from hostel to college and the busses usually have timings.1. There are no different sharing options. There is only double occupancy. 2. The hostel provided us with mattress, pillow, bed, study table and chair, almirah, geyser, wifi, microwave, fridge and a kettle. 3. The wifi used to be really bad before but now they changed it and its really good. 4. There are no recreation rooms. 5. There are 3 washrooms in every flat and they are common only. The hostel rooms and washrooms are cleaned daily. 6. Except hostel students stay in pgs and flats and im not much aware about the facilities provided there.

What are the hostel accommodation charges of NMIMS Shirpur and Mumbai Campus? Is it included in the fees showed on the website?

Well, no the hostel fees are not included in the course fees shown on the website, you have to pay them separately. The accommodation charges for the NMIMS Shirpur campus and Mumbai campus vary from each other. I have friends studying on both campuses and they are currently paying the following charges.

For NMIMS Shirpur campus the fees are roughly 1,20,000 per year which includes both accommodation and mess food. There are separate hostels for boys and girls within the campus itself where you get facilities like Dining Hall TV Room, Reading Room, PlayGround, Transport Facility, Medical Facility, Staff Quarters, Gym Facility, Saloons.

For NMIMS Mumbai, the hostel fee can range from 1.3 to 1.5 lakh for 10 months which can be quite expensive. You get full-fledged hostels for girls and boys and three rented residential accommodations. The facilities are great and almost the same as the Shirpur campus. However, many students usually form groups and rent a flat near the campus which is less costly.

All in all, hostel fees especially at the Mumbai campus can be very expensive despite four-seater rooms. Also, preference is given to students who are from outside Mumbai. If you have budget constraints, you can easily rent a flat near the campus with your friends as most students do.

How's hostel life at NMIMS Mumbai?

If you are planning to stay at the MKM Sanghavi hostel, here are some things you need to keep in mind:

Food: The mess facility available charges Rs75 per thali, which can be expensive if you don't have someone to share it with. The mess is open from 7:30 am to 10 pm, but the breakfast is often served late. If you come back to the hostel after 10 pm, you will need to order food from outside.
Washing: The washing machine area on the first floor has only a few machines that work. With a hostel of 100 girls, it can be difficult to wash your clothes, especially on Sundays. Additionally, if you have erratic timings, it may be challenging to do your laundry.
Water: Although there is a machine on every floor, most girls prefer to order their own Bisleri water as rumors say that there have been worms in the pumped water. Also, hot water is available for a limited time period and often takes a long time to fill up.
Fridge: There is a fridge on every floor where you can keep your milk tetra packs with your name on them. However, some floors may not have a fridge, and you will need to ask the authorities to install one.
Curfew: The curfew is at 11 pm, but you can still enter the hostel after that time. However, you cannot leave the hostel after 11 pm. During exams and placements, people may stay in the library or other areas until late, and the hostel will allow them to enter.
Rooms: The rooms are spacious and big, with most of them being three-sharing and a few being twin-sharing. All beds are single beds with box beds, and you get a study table and a cupboard. Lighting in the rooms is inadequate, and you may need to use table lamps.
Bathrooms: The bathrooms are well-maintained, with separate areas for bathing, toilets, and wash basins. However, the lighting is not sufficient, and the plug points may not work.
Open drain: The hostel has a large open water drain behind it that leads to a lot of mosquitoes in the hostel. The common area on each floor overlooks the drain, and if you have a room with a balcony, it may open to the drain.

What is the total cost incurred in doing your MBA from NMIMS Mumbai?

The following answer is based on my brother’s experience at NMIMS and may vary from person to person depending on their own personal expenses and standard of living. The table below shows the NMIMS MBA fee structure.

From the above data the approximate cost is 26-27 Lakhs. The additional expenses like hanging out, fares, and miscellaneous activities can amount to 1 Lakh.

Now let’s consider you staying in a flat and not a hostel. The MBA fees remain the same. But the living expenses are considerably cut down. My friend lives in a flat with 5 people and shared her average expenses.

The rental expense was 10k
The security deposit was 1 lakh
6-8k per month for electricity bills and grocery shopping
An additional 2-3k for hanging out
The average auto fare would be 3k per month
The rough average is 20k per month and if you calculate the same for 21 months it amounts to 4.2 Lakh.

The total expenses including tuition fees amount to 30-33 Lakhs. I think it’s better to go to a hostel than to a flat.

You have asked multiple questions at the same time and I'm here to clear all your doubts. Starting with the first part is how NMIMS is, well it is better than the newer IIMs and institutes like IMT, SIBM, SCMHRD, and IMI. In case you have calls from these, straight away go for NMIMS only. You can pursue an MBA with any specialization here. You should reconsider your decision however if you have calls from MDI, NITIE, IIFT Delhi, IIT Bombay, and JBIMS and you are willing to study something apart from Marketing.

However, NMIMS is not comparable to the older IIMs and FMS.

Cost of MBA (2 years )

The yearly NMIMS MBA fees are INR 11.95 Lakhs Fees. The additional costs are around 2.4 Lakhs every year. So the total cost of an MBA for 2 years is around INR 28.7 lakhs.

Worth

It’s impossible to evaluate correctly if a certain B School is worth the money. Some end up with high packages while some with low packages. Also, ROU is a broad term and cannot be determined by just the package you receive. Most of the time I have seen the lives of people with low packages change after their first job. So the initial package is just a stepping stone and not a deciding factor.

Placements

Some major companies that visit the campus for placements are Aditya Birla Capital, EY, Capgemini, Cognizant, ICICI Bank, etc.

If you are considering staying at MKM Sanghavi hostel at NMIMS Mumbai, here are some important things you should know based on personal experience:

With so many girls and only a few working machines, it can be challenging to wash your clothes. MBA students have erratic schedules, and they may not be able to use the washing machine when they want to.
Water: There is a machine on every floor, but some girls prefer to buy their own Bisleri water because they have heard rumors of worms in the water from the machines. You only get hot water in your bathroom for a limited time each day, and it can take a while to get hot water. This can be inconvenient when you are busy with deadlines.
Fridge: There is a fridge on every floor, and you can label your milk tetra packs with your name. If there is no fridge on your floor, you can ask the authorities to provide one.
Curfew: The curfew is 11 pm, but you can enter later if you are coming back from college or placements. However, once you are in the hostel, you cannot leave after 11 pm. If you need to stay in the library to study, they will not let you out after curfew.

NMIMS hostel facility includes two full-fledged hostels and three rented residential accommodations that are taken care by the university in Mumbai, separately for boys and girls. The students admitted are given preference on a first come first basis; and preference is given to students from outside of Mumbai to the hostel. The girls' hostels are provided with all the modern amenities, good nutritious food and purified drinking water facilities. Most of the rooms are triple sharing and have a separate washroom inside the room. The rooms are big and spacious with box beds. Each bed is provided with a study table, chair, and a personal almirah. The only odd thing is that despite being MBA hostel, it has a curfew.

You cannot get inside the hostel after 11PM unless you have a valid reason with enough proof.
