As it's JAMSHEDPUR you can opt Metallurgical and Materials Engineering branch without hesitation. It is the best college for studying Metallurgy. The Faculties are nice and all have PhDs from IITs. They teach on blackboard and whiteboard. Exams are conducted two times per semester. One Mid-semester and one End-semester.
My jee mains OBC rank was 16k and I was getting mechanical and the below branches in almost all mediocre NITs. I chose to be in the National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur because of its placement. And environment. The class of mechanical comprises 115 students with 9-10 faculties excluding labs and workshops. The faculties are well qualified in their field all are PhD holders and some are from IITs. Their way of teaching is quite good.
I chose this course because of my excellent placement records in this course and also to have deep knowledge of electrical engineering. Student faculty ratio is about 7:1 . Professors here are highly qualified they have done BTech, and MTech and also had their ph.d degrees from some precious college. The teaching methods of most of the professors are good but you may not cope with everyone as the teaching style of every professor is not same . Terms exams are conducted twice a year with both mid-sem and end-sem. Exams here are not that easy you will have to work hard to get good grades.
I am currently pursuing metallurgical and materials engineering in nit Jamshedpur. I chose the core branch because it took my interest in it. It's a pretty nice course. As my College offers industrial visit for the students. It's fun visiting them. The relationship between students and faculty is pretty good. But some of the professors didn't even bother our curiosity. But it's okay after all it has to be done on its own. All the faculty here are qualified with great education. The examination is the most hectic thing in the college curriculum. The questions are pretty tough but if written professor gives marks. And that's the good thing. So we passed if the professor wanted us to.
