Which is better CSE at Jadavpur University or CSE at IIT ISM Dhanbad?

    Saurav BhaskarStudied B.Tech Mechanical Engineering,Indian Institute of Technology,Dhanbad (2018)

I have a few friends who have completed their B.tech from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad and Jadavpur University. Here are some crucial factors you must take into account to understand the difference.

    • Legacy: IIT(ISM), Dhanbad is an IIT which is a central level engineering institute and also one of the oldest colleges in the country. On the other hand, JU still remains a state-level university.
    • Infrastructure: If you have visited both campuses, you can clearly see that the infrastructure at JU is crumbling as compared to that of IIT(ISM). JU has a campus the size of IIT(ISM), Dhanbad's lower ground.
    • Rankings: Although most rankings are biased and paid, JU is always ranked below IIT(ISM) Dhanbad except in the NIRF Rankings.
    • Placement packages: The tougher JEE Advanced criteria ensures the quality of students IIT (ISM) Dhanbad. All branches perform quite well. For example - The highest salary offered in CSE in the year 2017 was 1.05 crore

By no means a state-level university can outstand a national-level Institute. IIT (ISM) Dhanbad has an edge over JU in almost all aspects. If you score well enough for IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, there’s no point in thinking about Jadavpur University.

because it is electrical engineering and it was the safest or the farthest I could go from computer science there is no problem with 1:9 it is quite high and should not be the criterion by which we judge a college it has highly qualified teachers nothing less to expect from an iit as scheduled and moderate difficulty and hard if you didn't study at all.

I want to be in a core branch and to tell the truth I chose this course by seeing the average package of this course is pretty cool and the quality of teaching is good and fine. the would be cool if we could catch up in class and have a little bit of revision daily or it would be difficult to cope with the exams.

I chose this course cause because this was the best option I had for my rank,I think so because of this college's ranking and average package and course which I got (c.s.e). Faculty to student ratio in this college is 1:21 the faculty here are very much qualified and friendly u can get your doubts solved there is no issue in that. In every 4 months there will be an endsem exam and every 2 months there will be a midsem exam

Electrical engineering being a circuital branch has a wide range of possibilities ahead. It can also be considered as evergreen branch whose demand is atleast not going to end soon. Faculty here are PhD professionals but some might not like the teaching methodologies as it is quite different from the regular schooling/coaching methodologies. Term exams are strictly followed and on basis of regular intervals to check learning process. It is pretty easy to pass the exams if someone only pays attention in class or refer to notes by professors.

Environmental Engineering seemed to be an uprising as well as an important branch keeping today's worldview in mind. We have 8 courses each semester and have a separate set of faculties for each course in the department. Faculties are PhD scholars or above level with a considerable amount of teaching experience. Term exam are semester-wise, two exams in one sem is held one mid-semester and the other at the end sem. Mid-sems are comparatively easier than mid-sems due to a smaller syllabus but the sem exams are moderate level.

My course curriculum is very vast. As a mechanical engineering student, it consists of both hardware and software knowledge. But mainly focuses on hardware knowledge. They are one of the great professors in the world. Thought they were professor of IIT.
