- Eligibility:- Students in PGP & PGP-FABM with gross annual family income less than INR 15,00,000 during the previous fiscal year are eligible to apply, subject to verification.
- Factors like a candidate's past earnings (if any), the size of their student loans, and their family's income.
- Family’s income shall be estimated of both parent/guardian/s and spouse if married. The income before tax deduction shall be considered.
- Scholarship amount:- IIM Ahmedabad will review each applicant's economic situation using factors like family's movable and immovable assets, the number of dependents, and factors it may find relevant in order to calculate the amount of financial aid they will need.

- For 10 months, all postgraduate SC/ST students receive a scholarship of INR 150 per month.

Class of PGP 2001, Peri Viswanath Scholarship
- Brought into execution since batch 2013-15, by the batch-mates of Mr. Peri Viswanath who died in a road accident, this scholarship aims to extend financial support to one student in the PGP/PGP-FABM.
- Eligibility:- The merit criterion being the first year performance in PGP/PGP-FABM and past academic and the mean criterion of annual family income below INR 15,00,000.
- Scholarship Amount:- The amount of the financial assistance is INR 2,00,000 per year and the scholar will get INR 4,00,000 over 2 years. The criteria for the award would be Merit-cum-Means.
- Important:- To be awarded at the beginning of the second year, the beneficiary student should contribute in future (within and not later than 5-7 years of passing out from the institute) a sum at least equal to but preferably substantially more than what s/he received towards providing similar support to such students.

Shri GC Mital Entrepreneurship Aid
- Eligibility:- Only 1 student (who will be the graduating student of PGP/PGP-FABM, who intends to start own venture, opting out of the IIM Ahmedabad placement process), with an educational loan of a minimum INR 1,00,000 and those with a combined family income below INR 8,00,000 per annum.
- The selection of the awardee shall be done on the basis of a business plan submitted by the applicant.
- Scholarship Amount:- The aid amount of INR 2,00,000 would be given to the student on the day of convocation. The above financial aid has been implemented from the batch of 2012.
Smt. J Nagamma Memorial Award
- Eligibility:- Awarded to one PGP first year student at the end of first year as a merit scholarship based on academic performance.

General rules and regulations for qualifying for IIM Ahmedabad Scholarships
Following are the general rules and regulations for qualifying IIM Ahmedabad Scholarships:-
- Students violating the Institute’s disciplinary norms or proved to be guilty of misconduct will not be considered for the award of any scholarships.
- A student can accept more than one scholarship/financial aid in an academic year, provided:-i) there is no objection from the sponsors, and ii) the total amount of such scholarships/financial aid put together does not exceed the actual yearly expenses.
- The Institute reserves the right to withdraw a scholarship/financial aid already awarded on the grounds: (i) providing false information in the scholarship application, (ii) violation of institute’s disciplinary norms, and (iii) misconduct.

How can a graduated aspirant with a year drop improvise her resume for IIM Ahmedabad?
Every student with a gap year in their resume should be prepared for the question - ‘Why did you take a gap year?’, during your interview. The interview panelists are genuinely interested to know how you made the most of your break. You should be honest while replying to this question. You can simply answer that you needed more time for preparation.
During your break year, you can do volunteer work during weekends or learn something new. If you opted out of campus placements, you can do research projects or internships with your professor. You can do some certification or take examinations, in your field of interest, such as CFA/FRM. These will help showcase that you have spent your time productively.
What is the procedure involved when visiting the IIM Ahmedabad campus?
There is no proper procedure. If you want to visit the campus, you can make an entry in the register at the gate. It will be even easier if you know someone from the campus. Guards at the gate aren’t too finicky about people who want to get inside to see the campus. Although they stop those who are coming by vehicle.
What CAT percentile do I require to get calls from IIM Blackis, FMS, SP Jain, JBIMS and MDI Gurgaon?
For GEM, the CAT percentiles required to get an interview call from IIM Blackis, FMS, SP Jain, JBIMS, and MDI Gurgaon are
- ABC and FMS: Both institutes required nothing less than 99.5. Those who get admission at a lesser percentile, usually don’t belong to the GEM category. There are many who don’t even get a call with 99.3. So to stay on the safer side, go for nothing less than 99.5.
- IIM Indore and Kozhikode: Both the institutes require percentiles around 97.5 for an interview call
- SPJIMR: This Institute has unique selection criteria under which CAT is given less value and calls are issued on the basis of the candidate's profile. The CAT percentile required in this case is less than the normal if you have a good academic profile along with work experience,
- MDI: This institute issues calls around the 96% mark.

Have any BBA/BMS grads made it to IIM Ahmedabad?
Yes, each IIM Ahmedabad batch profile includes many BBA and BMS graduates. In fact, you will find students from similar backgrounds in every IIM. But the majority of each branch comprises engineering students. Owing to their academic background, engineering students have an upper hand in the Quants section of CAT.

Can an average non IITian make it into IIM Ahmedabad in the first attempt with three months preparation?
Students ideally need 6 months to prepare for IIM A, B, C. There’s a lot more to CAT than just completing the syllabus. Test mastery takes time. But if you are extraordinary in English and Maths, then you can complete your preparation in 3 months. But such cases are quite rare.
How are IIM A students different from students of, say, SP Jain, NMIMS, FMS or JB?
Students at IIM-A are similar to those at SP Jain, NMIMS, FMS, and JBIMS. Aptitude and intelligence are roughly comparable. IIM-A students do not have to compete as hard for placements, so they are less concerned, whereas students from other colleges are constantly concerned about placements.
You'll notice that students from other colleges perform better in competitions than IIM-A because they are generally more hardworking during MBA because the struggle is greater for them. However, because of the brand name, IIM-A students receive far more exposure than students from any other college in India, which benefits students greatly in their personal development.
Does it affect at IIM Ahmedabad if you are not from a prestigious institution?
It makes little difference in terms of interview call conversion at IIM Ahmedabad. If the interviewers believe that the candidates (from whatever institute they completed their graduation) are qualified, they will hire them. In fact, if they have to choose between two candidates who are equally good, they will most likely choose the candidate who graduated from a less well-known academic institution. They receive many institutes from well-known colleges, but having a student from a lesser-known college can bring a unique perspective to the class.
Coming to the point of impact of college graduation at IIM Ahmedabad. Impact on various levels:

Academics: Everyone must earn their grade by performing well in quizzes, exams, and, most importantly, group projects.

Club selection: It is dependent on the person conducting your interview for the selection. However, it cannot be assumed that a person who did not attend a top-graduation college will face disadvantages.

What are the reasons that someone could be rejected by IIM Ahmedabad after AW-PI after getting 99.7 percentile score in the CAT exam?
If you think just getting a good CAT score is enough to get into IIM, you are wrong. Let’s take an example of a human being, everyone is supposed to have two eyes, two ears, two hands, and two legs, it isn’t a big deal but if you don’t have either one of them, you have a big problem.
The same goes for the CAT scores of the candidates, over 500 students score 99.70+ almost every year, but not all of them can get into IIM. Here, several factors like the interview stage and reserved category seats play an important role in determining your chances to get in.
In the second round (interview), you will be checked for your performance throughout life, clarity of thoughts, your general awareness, ethics, personality, and ample other parameters. All these things have no relation with your CAT score, no matter how good you have scored you might fail in this second round which may lead to your rejection. By this, it is pretty clear that even a person having 100 percentile may get rejected at this stage.
Not to forget, the general category seats in IIM, Ahmedabad are around 200. The availability of seats is also another reason why the acceptance rate of IIM Ahmedabad is so steep.
How did you feel when you got into IIM Ahmedabad?
A few years back, one of my friends applied to both IIMA and IIMB. He got an email from IIM Bangalore with the subject ‘IIMB PGP 2017 Offer of Admission’, one day while he was working. He didn’t expect an admission offer since his interview hasn’t been that good. He didn't check his IIMA result as he always felt, it was out of his reach.
Some of his friends suggested that he should at least check the IIMA website once, anyways. When he logged in his credential to the IIMA website he was speechless to find that he had gotten in. When the realization settled in, he was torn between IIMA and IIMB. But eventually, he choose IIM A.

No, IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore, and Calcutta CVs aren’t highly exaggerated. The right terms will be well-structured and strategically marketed.
As mentioned, the CV verification process is rigorous and the institute only accepts poofs in certain specific formats from authorized people or organizations. So, there is no way anyone can exaggerate any facts. Students of these institutes mention their work and achievements in a way that catches the eye of the recruiters. That is the only difference.
