Admissions to Delhi Technological University (DTU) are primarily based on JEE Mains scores, managed through the Joint Admission Committee (JAC Delhi). Higher-demand courses like Computer Science require better ranks, with some students securing seats with a rank as high as 18,000. NRI students are admitted using SAT Subject Test scores. The faculty at DTU is well-regarded, with many holding PhD degrees, and the faculty-to-student ratio is about 1:60 for theory and 1:20 for practical classes.
Although teaching quality is generally good, it can vary across departments. DTU's examination system includes mid- and end-semester exams with a lenient grading system. The tuition fee has increased over the years, with the current first-year fee for the 2024 academic year at Rs 2,36,700. The total cost for a four-year B.Tech program is around Rs 9-10 lakhs, excluding hostel (Rs 38,000-40,000 annually) and mess fees (Rs 20,000 annually). Despite high fees, scholarships and financial aids are available for economically disadvantaged students, including full tuition concessions for those with a family income below Rs 4.5 lakhs.
DTU has a strong placement record, with over 300 companies recruiting annually. The highest international package recently reached 2.02 crores per annum, while the highest domestic offer was 64 lakhs. The average package for tech branches is 20-22 lakhs, and 7-8 lakhs for non-tech branches, with around 80-90% placement rates. Top recruiters include Google, Microsoft, and Amazon. Internships are a significant aspect, with stipends between 20,000 to 2 lakhs per month, and over 250 companies visiting for internships.
Students are eligible for internships from the third year, often leading to pre-placement offers. DTU also offers scholarships for SC/ST and OBC categories, and loans are readily available.
