NIT Silchar Courses Admission 2024: Dates, Cutoff, Fees, Application Process

NIT Silchar offers B.Tech program in 6 specializations to its students on regular mode. Admission to the course will be based on the marks secured in JEE Main and JoSAA counselling. 

NIT Silchar B.Tech Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates must have passed higher Secondary Examination (12th) qualified candidates from a recognized board of education.
• Candidates are required to appear for the JEE Mains exam 

NIT Silchar B.Tech Selection Criteria

• Admission will be based on the performance in JEE Mains along with JoSAA.
• Seat allocation to the selected candidates of JEE Mains will be done through Joint Seat Allocation Authority.
• Based on the results of this examination, a merit list is prepared and selected candidates are intimated about the details regarding the admission process.

NIT Silchar BTech Cutoff 2023 (Expected)

NIT Silchar JEE Main cutoff is the minimum rank to get admitted to the B.Tech program. The cutoff will be released by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). The cutoff depends on various factors such as rank secured in the JEE Main examination, availability of seats, choice filling, reservation criteria, etc. NIT Silchar BTech expected cutoff 2023 for general category candidates based on JoSAA 2022 round 1 opening and round 6 closing ranks is tabulated below:

How to Apply?

• Register for JEE Main exam. 
• Enter the personal, academic details and upload Scanned Images of Candidate’s Photograph and Signature. 
• Pay the application fee through Debit card/ Credit card/ Net banking/ UPI/ PAYTM by following the online instructions.
• After successful payment, print the Confirmation Page and keep it for future reference. 

Documents Required

• Scanned copies of academic details.
• Scanned passport size photograph of the candidate in JPG/JPEG format (size between 10 kb–200 kb).
• Scanned clear signature of the candidate in JPG/JPEG format (size between 4 kb–30 kb).
• Scanned copies of Category certificate, PwD certificate, if applicable.
• A valid e-mail ID.

The institute offers a 2- year M.Tech program on a regular basis in Specializations . Candidates can also enrol in Dual Degree programs which are of 5 years. Admission to this program is offered on the basis of GATE exam/JEE Advanced Exam score.

NIT Silchar M.Tech Eligibility Criteria

• A pass at the undergraduate level from any recognized university/college in the country. A minimum of 60% aggregate is required. 
• Only B.E. or B.Tech. degrees are accepted. The undergraduate course must have been in a field related to the Master’s subject. 

NIT Silchar M.Tech Selection Criteria 

• Selection will be according to the performance and GATE score.
• Once the GATE scores are released,the board conducts the counselling process for the selected candidates on the basis of their rank.
• In this stage, candidates submit their documents for verification and asked to select the institute of their choice.
• The COAP portal then sends the acceptance letter to the shortlisted candidates and offers them a seat in the institute of their choice.

• After the form is submitted, an enrolment ID will be sent to the candidate’s mobile number.
• Fill out the application form.
• Application fee is to be paid online.
• Download the form and keep a printout for future reference.

  • Degree Certificate; or
  • Provisional Certificate; or 
  • Certificate from the Head of the Department/Institute format, available on the COAP website.
• Scanned copy of the PwD certificate (if applicable) in pdf format.
• Scanned copy of Dyslexic Certificate (if applicable) in pdf format.
• Scanned Passport size photograph of the candidate 
• A scanned signature image of the candidate.

NIT Silchar M.Tech Cutoff 2023 (Expected)

NIT provides an MBA course into 3 specializations of Marketing, Finance and Human Resource. Admission to the course will be based on academic performance, Marks secured in CAT/MAT/CMAT along with group discussion and interview. 

NIT Silchar MBA Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree with 55% or 6.0 CGPA/ CPI in total aggregate. A relaxation of 5% or 0.5 CPI/ CGPA granted to those who belong to Scheduled Caste (SC)/ Scheduled Tribe (ST)/ Person with Disabilities (PwD) category candidates.
• A candidate must have appeared in CAT/ CMAT/ MAT with a minimum cutoff of 50 percentile in order to eligible for NIT Silchar MBA admission 
• Those who are pursuing their final year of graduation are also eligible to apply for NIT Silchar MBA admission
• The bachelor degree in distance mode recognized by DDE and IGNOU are eligible for NIT Silchar MBA admission 

NIT Silchar MBA Selection Criteria

The selection process of NIT Silchar selection process will include the following three step process:

Step 1 - Performance of the candidate in the entrance exam (CAT/ MAT/ CMAT)

Step 2 - Performance in Group Discussion (GD)/ Written Ability Test (WAT)

Step 3 - Performance in Personal Interview

NIT Silchar M.Sc Eligibility Criteria

• Undergraduate level (minimum 50%) with the related subject as a primary subject in a B.Sc. degree from any recognized university in the country.

NIT Silchar M.Sc Selection Criteria

• Admission will be done on the basis of Centralized Counseling

• Upon submitting the registration form, an enrolment ID would be sent to the mobile number.
• Fill out the form. Include the details of the JAM papers and choice of JAM examination cities.
• Pay the application fee online.
• Keep a printout for future reference.

The University offers doctorate level programs as well in almost all disciplines under the Institute. Applications are accepted for these programs in two batches, the first being the July – December batch where applications close towards the end of the month of April.

NIT Silchar PhD Eligibility Criteria

• M.E./M.Tech. or equivalent in an appropriate area with a minimum CPI of 6.5 (on a 10 point scale) or equivalent (60% of marks). At least 8.0 (on a 10 point scale) or equivalent (75% of marks). For graduates from IITs/NITs, the minimum CPI requirement is 7.0 (on a 10 point scale).
• A Master's degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum CPI of 6.5 (on a 10 point scale) or equivalent (60% of marks).

NIT Silchar PhD Selection Criteria 

• Admission to NIT Silchar Phd will be based on the entrance examination and interview conducted by NIT. 
• CSIR or CBSE NET/JRF qualified candidates will be exempted from the entrance examination
