Why Study at LIBF?

For our distance learning courses, we work with the International University of Applied Sciences (IU). They bring with them 20 years of online learning expertise and provide the online virtual learning environment through which we deliver our courses. What is LIBF’s History?

Back in 1879, there were no qualifications for bank workers and very few opportunities to progress. United by the need for professional recognition for their skills and experience, a small group of banking professionals set up the first Institute of Bankers in England and Wales which later became LIBF.

Today, LIBF provides students all over the world with everything they need to learn flexibly online, anywhere, and is the only professional body in the world with taught degree awarding powers. We have a global community of students and alumni spanning over 120 countries.

What is Distance Learning?

Distance learning also known as online or virtual learning is a flexible way for international and UK- based students to study an LIBF degree. It removes the need to leave home, or stick to someone else’s timetable. Students can study according to their own schedule from anywhere. That makes it possible for you to combine degree-level study with a full-time job, family and other commitments.

LIBF Distance Learning Courses

We offer five distance learning courses:

• Three at undergraduate level
• One master’s, and
• One Master of Business Administration (MBA)

Tuition fee costs are split over the chosen number of study years and are the same in total regardless of how many years you opt to spend studying for your degree.

Duration of Courses

Students can choose to study on a full or part-time basis.

While the study period for an undergraduate degree is three years, there are two flexible part-time

options lasting either four or six years. Similarly, the full-time study period for our master’s and MBA postgraduate degrees is 18 months, but you can also take them part-time over two years.

Career Prospects

Our courses provide our students with the broad skill set they need for a career in business and finance.

And when you graduate, LIBF continues to offer careers support for up to three years, including

providing advice on career planning and how to maximize the effectiveness of your job search.

In many cases, our students are recruited for graduate trainee schemes or by one of the ‘Big Four’ accounting and consulting firms (PwC, KPMG, EY and Deloitte). Mature students often find their new skills and qualifications unlock new career opportunities or allow them to take their own business ventures to the next level.

Scholarships and Bursaries

For students based in the UK we offer both undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships. A bursary is

also available for UK undergraduate students from low-income families.

Overseas students may qualify for a scholarship for their undergraduate or postgraduate course worth

35% of the value of their tuition fees.

Even before you start studying your course, our staff are at hand to help you with your application, enrollment and anything else you need. If you need advice on managing your studies and preparing for exams, you can talk to your personal study coach at any time. And our Careers and Employability team will continue to support you for up to three years after you graduate.
